Command word

Define/what is meant by.. Describe

Means write about The meaning of the word. You need to learn the keywords and definitions. What is it like? e.g. describe the pattern of a graph what patterns occur? Any anomalies (what doesnt fit the pattern?) No need for explanations. Why is it like that? (i.e. give reasons) Use words like because, due to and so. This is similar to explain but you are expected to bring in ideas of your own, that are not provided in the exam paper. The similarities AND differences. The differences. (Use words like whereas, however, on the other hand) The advantages and disadvantages OR the arguments for and against. (Assess, evaluate and discuss pretty much mean the same thing. They are all about weighing something up.)
