Lesson Introduction: To introduce the lesson the teacher places a chart with the drawing of a house on the white board. The teacher asks children questions about where specified items are located on the picture. The teacher writes on the whiteboard the prepositions that are said by students.

Content: Method Matter 1 Teacher Strategies The teacher asks students to share what they think is similar about the words written on the white board. (the teacher guides students to discover the function of prepositions) 2 The teacher writes a short note on the white board which contains the definition for prepositions. Through direct instruction the teacher explains the concept of prepositions. 3 The teacher presents students with sentences and asks them to identify Students read sentences aloud and then identify the proposition. Students read a note written on the white board and then listen attentively to an explanation given by the teacher. Pupils Activities Students share their ideas.

Closure: To conclude the lesson the teacher plays a song (the preposition dance) and students sing and dance along with the music. The teacher then asks students questions which summarize the lesson. Finally students copy a short note on the topic.

Evaluation: To evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson students will be required to complete a worksheet where they will identify the prepositions in sentences. They will also be required to use the appropriate preposition to complete sentences.

Continuation: As a form of continuation the teacher could play a preposition Pictionary game. The class could be divided into two teams. One team sends a player to the whiteboard who try to get his/her teammates to figure out the preposition that they have by drawing images on the whiteboard. Both sides take turns for a set time period and the team with the most points wins the game.
