Daniel Powter
Turn On The Lights
People started listening to Daniel Powterin the tens of millionsin 2006, when Powters song Bad Day became a worldwide smash, one that Billboard named the top Hot 100 song of that year, nominated Daniel for Grammys and won him Juno Awards. With over 5 million singles sold in North America alone, Bad Day established Daniel as a huge hit songwriter. Obviously, it was incrediblea lightning-in-a-bottle moment, says the singer-songwriter, whose major-label debut single impacted across Europe and in Australia before taking off in the United States thanks in part to its prominent placement on American Idol. Powters new album, Turn on the Lights, is an effervescent set of pop songs about life, love and what happens in between. Produced by veteran hit-maker Howard Benson (Kelly Clarkson, Gavin DeGraw), Turn on the Lights catches Powter in a soulful, irresistibly uplifting mood. Until recently, Daniel Powter fans mightve thought they knew what he was all about. With Turn on the Lights, hes got a lot more to show.

Nick Cave & Warren Ellis The Road Original Film Score / White Lunar
The Road Originally released 4th January 2010, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis soundtrack to The Road, a movie directed by John Hillcoat. This big screen adaptation of the bestselling, Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road by Cormac McCarthy (author of No Country For Old Men) sees Academy Award-nominee Viggo Mortensen leading an all-star cast featuring Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall, Guy Pearce and young newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee. An epic post-apocalyptic tale of survival of a father and his young son journeying across a barren America destroyed by a mysterious cataclysm, The Road boldly imagines a future in which men are pushed to the worst and the best that they are capable of -- a future in which a father and his son are sustained by love. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis created an evocative score featuring violin and piano with beautiful fleeting melodies and eerie sound loops filled with terror and suspense. White Lunar Repackaged into a Jewel Case, White Lunar is a selection of pieces taken from various motion pictures and documentaries that we have been involved in, namely The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Proposition, The Road, The English Surgeon, The Girls Of Phnom Penh and a variety of of pieces selected from our vaults. The first CD has the big themes, the orchestra and the songs and the second CD is fractured, haunting and sometimes badly behaved.--Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
Accompanying the soundtracks on the second disc are four pieces drawn from the Cave & Ellis archives, all named after craters: Magma is constructed from a chorus of Warrens singing, a pitch-shifted riff, Zanstra swarms like a storm of hornets besieging White Lunar a submarine, Halo finds pastoral calm in the eager teeth of defeat and Daedalus rises sure as the sun, with dewy flute and 2 CD - Brilliant Box fluttering piano motes, before a sudden fade. The sequence is conceived as a suite. Listen to it as you might listen to an instrumental P240 23230-2 - $ 12.85 album recommends Ellis, as some kind of trip. These new standard editions will also replace the limited versions (The Road 0724596943625 + White Lunar 0724596941928 once stock is depleted)

Legendary melodic punk rockers Strike Anywhere have pieced together a live acoustic collection, titled In Defiance of Empty Times, that is set to be released on August 14th from Bridge Nine Records. Two sets were recorded last year, in Rochester in July and Richmond in September, and merged together for this very special release. Side Rochester features six songs captured from Strike Anywheres acoustic performance alongside labelmates Polar Bear Club, while Side Richmond was recorded during a benefit show for the IWW on the eve of the Occupy Movement in RVA. This album follows the release of Strike Anywheres landmark album Iron Front, which was released on Bridge Nine in October of 2009 and called the bands best output to date by Punknews.org. Since then, Strike Anywhere has toured the globe numerous times over and will be playing shows in support of In Defiance of Empty Times.

and complement the studio recordings in many ways.
These recordings of live performances greatly add to the understanding of Callas the artist They capture her on some of the greatest nights of her career and palpably demonstrate the magic that she created in front of audiences in the opera house and concert hall. This set includes a number of recitals which formed an integral part of Callass public career alongside her stage performances. In them she sang not only scenes and arias from her stage repertoire, but other pieces as well that she never sang on the opera stage. The set also contains an interview with Maria Callas by the American opera commentator Edward Downes, which was broadcast in the USA in two parts during the intermissions of the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts in December 1967 and January 1968.
