The presentation discusses the Catacarb section of a plant which removes carbon dioxide from synthesis gas. It describes the main equipment used and chemical reactions that occur.

The main components of the Catacarb section are the high temperature shift converter, low temperature shift converter, desuperheater, absorber, stripper, rich solution flasher drum, and knock out drums.

In the high temperature shift converter, carbon monoxide reacts with water to form carbon dioxide and hydrogen. In the low temperature shift converter, the same reaction continues to further convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide.
