Gandhi Jayanti Celebration(1st Oct)

Master Mind Quiz Competition( 1st Oct,2012)
Innovation in the field of education is as important as it is in other spheres of life. Knowledge and skills can easily be imparted from one generation to another, if modern teaching techniques are unified with traditional training methods. Sri SIIM follows the same pedagogy, through theories and practices it aims to support the full development of the younger generation of the society. Gandhi Ji was one such person who opposed literary training without vocational training, physical exercises, without spiritual development and religious instruction without practical social service. Gandhi ji's vision was to create an India where all citizens would attain "a keen sense of personal worth, dignity and efficiency", through an educational system that would "strengthen in them the desire for self -improvement and social service in a cooperative community" Rama Krishna Vivekananda International Foundation jointly with Sri SIIM followed the same philosophy and organized a grand event on 1st Oct, 2012 and 2nd Oct , 2012 to pay tribute to our father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and spread his thoughts, views and teachings to the younger generation of India. chief Ministers conclave & 107th Annual Session

Residents of a country seek continuous growth and development of their society from their leaders and representatives of the state. In order to achieve a sustainable amount of growth and development, constant efforts are required to be made by both the leaders of state as well the general public. PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, India is one such organisation which acts as a catalyst in the promotion of industry, trade and entrepreneurship. PHD Chamber, through its research-based policy advocacy role, positively impacts the economic growth and development of the nation. On 15th December, 2012 PHD Chamber conducted Chief Minister Conclave and celebrated its 107th Annual Session at the Hotel Le- Meridien, New Delhi. Chief Ministers and their representatives were invited from each and every state of India to discuss the current development status of their respective states. The Session was headed by Honble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. Our Rev. CMT & MD, Sri SIIM, Swami (Dr) Parthasarthy was also invited to be a part of this meeting and share his viewpoints on the development aspect of the nation, but due his other work commitments he could not attend the session and sent his representative, Assistant Manager cum HR(Registrar's office), Mrs. Kritika Gupta to attend the session. Some of the very eminent personalities who shared their viewpoint and the development stage and problem faced by their states were: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal Dr. Raman Singh Mr. Vijay Bahuguna Mr. Sushil Kumar Modi - Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh -Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh -Chief minister, Uttrakhand -Deputy Chief Minister, Bihar

CM, Himachal Pradesh said that his government provides electricity at very cheap rates and the Public distribution system of food is very efficient in his state.CM, Uttrakhand stated that his state has got lowest crime rate in the country, he also offered land for the construction of a PHD chamber in his state. Deputy CM, Bihar

stated that Bihar as a state is like a role model for other underdeveloped countries; he also discussed the problems of floods which people face in his state. Certain awards were also conferred upon states which have shown development and growth in the past couple of years. Most important of them were: Highest Agriculture growth Lowest Unemployment Rate -Madhya Pradesh -Chattisgarh

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee shared his thoughts and addressed the gathering. He said India is, today, among the fastest growing countries in the world. The decadal average growth rate, which was 1.9 per cent in the Eighties, increased to 7.3 per cent in the last decade. India's share in World GDP has doubled in the last two decades, from 1.2 per cent in 1991 to 2.4 per cent in 2011. It became the third largest economy in the world on Purchasing Power Parity basis this year. . We have, therefore, a collective challenge to reverse this deceleration in growth and raise it to 8 to 9 per cent that we had recorded for most of the years in the previous decade. I need to hardly emphasize that growth is dependent on the investment rate and the efficient use of capital. The rapid economic growth after 2003-04 was accompanied by a rise in the investment rate. However, the investment rate has declined after reaching its peak in 2007-08 and for this; we have to create the conditions required for it. He emphasized on the growth and governance aspect of the nation in the coming future. The Conclave had literally brought many state leaders on a common platform to deliberate about the contribution that states can make to further India's journey of progress.

visit to new life orphanage

The Council Of Social responsibility team of Sri SIIM is continuously heading towards touching the lives of each and every section of the society, to bring about a change in the society at large. It is now becoming a paradigm for other institutes to follow such ethical and social practices. One such example is the initiative taken by the CSR team which resulted in smiles on the faces of the kids in an orphanage called New Life Foundation situated at the outskirts of the North Delhi region. The CSR team spent a whole day (21st December, 2012) with the kids of New Life Foundation interacting and playing with them and tried to understand their problems. Various activities were organized for the kids, they were quite excited to see so many people coming, especially to meet them. The CSR team didnt miss the opportunity to become a part of their happiness and danced along with the kids. It was an absolute treat to watch them dance so well in spite of the adversities which they face. Different fun games like Musical Chair and KBC were organized as well for the kids. They enjoyed the series of activities such as Movie session, Distribution of sweets and chocolates , along with that, a special arrangement of snacks and Christmas cake was made for kids as well as for the caretakers of the orphanage by the CSR team. A complete plethora of laughter can be heard as kids loved watching cartoons movie played for them. There was smile on everyones face whether they were the kids, caretakers or the CSR members. It was such a delight for the CSR team of Sri SIIM to be a part of their happiness. The day came to an end with the distribution of Christmas gifts and sweets to every member of New Life Foundation. The CSR team promised to every kid, that they would certainly come back next year and would celebrate Christmas with them. As a responsible citizen, one has social obligations towards the society. Children are the future of our society, who are today in the smoke of darkness. Around 12 million children are still deprived of the fundamental rights of primary education. The time has come, that the intelligentsia and the organizations apart from discussion and debates, have to play an active part to change the scenario.

A kid is God's opinion that the world should go on. Carl Sandburg

Bhandara at Swami Dayanand Ashram

Food distribution which is popularly known as Bhandara in India, has a great significance in every individuals life.It is treated as a gesture of exhibiting love, sacrifice for others and seeking blessings from the God for every human being in this world and also for those who have left this world. Sri SIIM as a management institute not only imparts management training but also makes its students learn the art of sacrificing and how one can remain connected to ones roots and culture. Our Rev. Swami (Dr) Parthasarthy on the behalf of the Sri SIIM Foundation organized a Bhandara at The Swami Dayananda Ashram, Rishi Kesh, Uttarakhand on 22nd December, 2012. Some of the very fortunate students, Ketan Bhateja, Ankush Rana, Ashwini Sharma from PGDM Batch 1st year and Iqbal Ali from PGDM Batch 2nd year , got this opportunity to actively participate and volunteer the whole Bhandara under the guidance of Rev. Swami ji. Some of the staff members of Sri SIIM also went along with the students to be a part of Bhandara distribution event. Dayananda Ashram Rishikesh is situated on the banks of the Holy Ganga, away from the major tourist attractions. It is a unique centre for the study of Vedanta and Sanskrit; unique in the sense that the classes are conducted in English yet the adherence and reverence to the ancient tradition of teaching (Sampradaya) is total. Our Swami Ji has a very old and strong relationship with the Dayananda Ashram, as it is an Alma Mater for him and he is a disciple of Swami Dayanand Saraswati , who established this ashram during the 1960s. Around one thousand people including the Saints , priests, Students and General visitors from different states and priests of the Dayanand Ashram assembled and took Prashad with the blessings of god. The whole ambience was representing the feeling of peace and humanity. The objective was not only the distribution of food but to sprinkle the blessings of god on people in the form of Prashad and to exhibit the feelings of love for the society.

Nothing except Knowledge can purify your heart- Swami Dayananda Saraswati
