I am a master student, Master of Accountancy, Part Two, UiTM Main Campus I am conducting an interview on the topic of UITM and You.Together..eek with me now is a respondent, chosen for the interview. Erk..lets begin with introduction about yourself. Umm, welcome, aaaCould you please introduce yourself? Umm, What is your name? My name is Hafizuddin bin Mohd Nor. UmmHow old are you? I am 21 years old. UmmAre you a student in UiTM? Or have you ever been studying in UiTM? Aaa... actually I just finished my part six Diploma in UiTM,Arau, Perlis Arau Perlis, umm. since when umm and umm since when you...umm. start your umm.. study in UiTM? I started my study (paper flipping sound) in UiTM during December 2008. Oh, thank you. Umm before we umm go even further, umm could you please share with me (phone vibrating) your educational background umm where were you before entering UiTM as a student? (Handphone vibrating) Before I enter the UiTM I was aaa I studied at Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, Putrajaya. And then aaa I enter the matriculation college but during the matriculation college I apply for the UiTM and aaawhen I got it I aaa transfer to the UiTM. Ok,and then you transferred to UiTM? Thank you. Umm(paper flipping sound), aaa(pause) today Ill conduct an interview, ummIll ask your opinion on your experience and UiTM itself. Umm first question. Hafiz, what do you think about UiTM, umm...as a place of study? From your view and experience as a student? (chicken sound). Ok, as a student I think aaa..(motorcycle pass by) UITM is a...a..good place for study aaa because they they have many special, specialities for example they UiTM is the only one university in Malaysia which is built special for bumiputera or Melayu. Aaaa..oror malays so, I think aaa as one of the bumiputera or malay, II feel proud to study in UiTM. So I think it is very good to study in UiTM. campus? AaaI think UiTM Arau is aaa quite good because it is one of the biggest campus after UITM Shah Alam, the main campus. Aaabesides that they also have aaa good facilities for example they have a lot of hostels, aaaalso the classes alsaaa is enough for all the student. Aaabut it is aaa only some problem aaaabout the the road for example, is..it is takes a long time to aaa for example to..wider the road and aaathe facility that is something (chicken sound) sometimes its looks difficult to improve. Ooo..ok and then aaaummm (pause) ummm can I know how much axx..approximately how many students umm studying in UiTM Arau? Approximately. AaaI think about nine..nine thousand and five hundred students. Nine thousand and five hundred students? Wow, thats a great number. [hafiz:yes] ok, ummdo youdid you feel uncomfortable with such numbers inin that camcampus? Aaain some situation it is it ok, it is ok because aaaas we know now Iaaa during the session for diploma and degree is different [int:aaah] they dont have same, same session and also aaaUiTM Perlis also one of the biggest campus so it is not aaa veryits not a problem for us but aaasome only sometimes the problem will occur if for example aaaduring the lunch time all the student will go to the caf or the dining hall in the same time. AaaIs the only the minor problem usually occur [int: I see] Umm..where did you stay Hafiz? Umm Did you stay on campus on the colleges oraaa..outside. Aaa I stayed in campus for aaa during part one until part three and then during part four aaaI stayed outside the campus. Ok. You aaa..mentioned about a few problems. Ummfor examples ummthe roads and then ummthe caf umm kind of like umm stuffed during umm lunch breaks, sometimes, so umm personally, could you give me some inputs on isk..how do you think that UiTM especially your campus can improve on its umm environment and facility? Aaa.in I think aaa for to improve the facility in UiTM Perlis, aaa it is not aaaso hard because aaa it is the only aaa the one of the biggest UiTM in ummMalaysia. And also it also have a lot of student so aaaI think it is better to build aaamore caf, cafeteria and also for the to what, to make the road wider it is I think the ad the admin of U..aaa..UiTM Perlis should do something to improve that. It is aaamaybe they dont umm..they emm..they dont push the aaathe..[int:err..the improvements?] maybe they dont push aaa.. to get the facility.[int:oh ok] Aaa Hafiz, you stayed outside campus, right? So, ummwhere is the ummthe nearest town? To UiTM ummcampus? In Perlis. The nearest town aaa is the Arau, Arau town. Aaa but before this aaaaaa the nearest town is Kangar but now aaa in one,one year aaa..thethere are a few development in Arau, that so we i think we can assume now that Arau now is a town.

How long does it take umm to go to Arau from aaa your campus? Its only take 5 to 10 minutes only [int: 5 to 10 minutes driving?] aaa yes, or we can also take aaa bus and also taxi to go to the campus..[int: how much does it cost?] aaaactually if we want to take bus there there are also UiTM buses aaa [int: ohI see] prepared for students to go there because there are also some students who stay aaa..near, the the town [int: ok] aaa lets move aaa to another question, umm why, why do you choose to study in UiTM? Ok, aaa there are aaa a few, a few reasons why I choose aaato study in UiTM. First of all, aaa as everybody know, the..the fee aaa to study in UITM is quiet low compare to other university. Aaa...And also the other reason is because aaa it is a special university built for bumiputera [int: ehemm..] so I feel proud to study in the university which is special for me on also for all the bumiputera. [ int: uhum..] Umm you talked about the fees. Umm as aaa in your estimation, I mean in rough figure, umm how much does it cost you per semester? Aaa(pause) for the diploma student, thethe fees per semester is about aaafive hundred ringgit [int: ehemm..] and also I think thats only the fee that we have to pay. But it is not aaa a burden for UITM students because if student with, if the parents aaa have lower salary [int:ahaa], so they can also apply for the aaaallowance that provide by UITM, [int:ooo] special for diploma students. I see, and then umm how much that allowance give you per month? Aaaabout hundred and twenty ringgit per month.(Azan call started) Ok umm can wecan we,,. stop for a while? Or wenever mind, lets move to the another question. urmmm ok, (paper flipping) ummm(Azan still calling) besides studying umm I mean normal activities in class, umm did you join other activities, let say co-curricular activities? Ok besides activity in class, I also join aaa the activity for the cultural activity in UiTM [int: ooo..interesting!] yes. I also have a nasyid group in UiTM which represent UITM Perlis in aaa..any nasyid competition. Other than that I also play aaaacultural music [int: ahaa..] for representing UiTM also. Andaaabesides that I also, I have represented UiTM [int:ehem] in, UITM Perlis [int:aha..] in IMTGT International, sorry, Indonesia Malaysia Thailand Growth Triangle Varsity Carnival [int: I see] for the cultural activity [int: when was that?] it was last year, at Thaksin University, [int:thai..] Songkhla [int:Thailand?] Thailand. [Int: Oo.ok, sounds interesting] Ummm ok umm About your nasyid group, could you umm share with me, umm a bit further, did you won any of the championship, any competitions? Wewe have entered a lot of competitions but aaa we, some of the competition we won,but some of that just as a participant. For example, we won the nasyid for inter- UITM at UITM [Int:ehemm..] Puncak Alam [int:oh..] at 2009 [int:ehemm]. And also during 2010 we won for the

PialaRabbani [int:ehemm] at AlorSetar and during two thousand for this year 2011 we won at, we had get second place aaa at the Nasyid Hari Belia [int:ooo] at Putrajaya. Ooo..congratulation. It seems that ummyou have won quite e number of competitions. Thank you. Umm.ummmCould you please share with me some of your unforgettable memories while studying in UITM? Aaa(pause)My some of my unforgettable memories, one of them is when I was aaa.. I was chosen to represent UITM Perlis for the IMTGT varsity carnival [int: I see] because it is quite a aaa one of my best memory because I can go to Thailand [int: ehe] without any fees and also get some allowance to go there [int: ok its free] its free. Aaa besides that aaa the best memory is during aaa..we..aaa I won the nasyid aaa competition at Putrajaya because it aaa during the competition wewe won the second place and get three thousand ringgit for the prizes [int:the prize, ok] Aaa ok hmm any otheraaa..sweet memories in class.. or during teaching less... sessions? AaaDuring the teaching lessons there are also some aaabest memories because II take diploma in science [int: uhumm..] and aaamy special aaa subject is for biology. So the best one of the best memory when I can go for the ecology trip at Mukahid, Penang and also the field trip at aaaTasik..(pause : thinking ), [int: Tasik..?]Tasik Banding Perak [int: ooo ok], I stayed at Tasik Banding for... three days, so that is one aaaone of the best memory . Other than that I also have aaa the aaa unforgettable memories when I can aaa.. do aaa lot of best experiments for example I can aaa(pause: thinking and trying to remember) umm.. I do own project aaa prepare the prepare for themy own methods and do my own project. Ok, umm what project that you still cannot forget? Aaaone of thethe projectis dur..during my part 5, aaa..i do the biology project which aaait is quite hard because the project is to extract the antianti-bacteria from flowers [int:ooo]. So, I choose aaa to use aaaroselle flowers [int: uhumm] and do the extraction of roselle and aaagrow our own bacteria and test with the bacteria that we grown on maa..ek ..on our own. So, its quite aaaaaa it is best for us, for our experience. Was the project done well? Aaaaaait is done after our third trial to do the project [int: uhuh.. ok..] Aaa..ok..ok lets move on aaa..into the next topic. Umm..we did talk about the facilities and environment of UiTM but now, I would like to ask your opinion on the quality level of education provided by UiTM. What is opinionWhat is your opinion on the level of education in UiTM? In my opinion, I think the quali, aaa..academic aaa quality for UiTM is quite good because aaa as I heard from others, aaa.. if I take diploma in UiTM it is aaaeasy for me to further my study in degree in other university. have the quality to get a good job aaain.. to get a good job. So I think, aaafrom from that aaawe can say that the aaa academic level for UiTM is quite good for the student. Ooh, okumm then how about in the aspect of leadership or soft skills? Aaanow, I do understands that you have been involved in so many extra co-curricular activities in UiTM. So does umm.... these activities umm does UiTM helps you a lot in improving your leadership and soft skills? Aaa..yes, UiTM do (motorcycle passing by) help a lot for leadership and soft skill because aaain UiTM for the diploma student they have to take aaa a module [int: uhumm..]which is aaafor every semester they will take one module which is involve aaaa lot of thing, for example during the part one they will aaa take about aaahow to talk in aaa.. public and during part two,about aaa..how to dress up properly and something as like that. So I think UiTM helps a lot for student to develop their communication skills and also aaathe soft skills. Ok, ummok ..it seems that UiTM does or did help you a lot. Ummm..ok, lets say if you were given a chance to study in future would you come back and study in UiTM, lets say for your degree, masters or even PhD? And why? Ok, aaaI think if I I I will If I given a chance to study in UiTM, I think I would like to study in..aaa , further my study in UiTM because aaaI think I feel proud to be a UiTM studentand also aaaaaaI also have have aaa comfort with the UiTMs rules and regulationsand also the environment of studying in UiTM. [int:oo..ok] Aaaa..Hafiz, ummmin future ummmwhat do you want to be? Your ambition. AaaI think I, my ambition is want to be one of the UiTM lecturers (paper plipping sound). [int: ooooh, want to be one of UiTM lecturers, ok, thats sounds nice] Aaaok, aaafew last questions I think, ummwhat is your hope ummm on ummm..UiTM in future? Aaa..ok my hope I aaafor UiTM, I hope that aaa they will aaamaintain their aaatheir their specialities for bumiputera and malays because it is very special for us and other than that I hope that aaa..the quality for academic and aaafacilities will be maintained or will be improved day by day [int: ok] Insya Allah. Insya Allah. Aaaok, and then ummmwould you think that ummmUiTM will always be remained relevant in the Malaysian development process and then aaaespecially about the bumiputera?
