Superior Townships four incumbent trustees were reelected in the townships only contested local election. Nancy E. Caviston, Rodrick Green, Lisa Lewis and Alex Williams, all Democrats, each received over 20 percent of the townships votes. Incumbents Marion Morris, Sandi Lopez, Terry Lee Lansing, Martha KernBoprie and Janice Berry, and newcomer Mirada Jenkins, ran uncontested for the townships seven open parks commissioner seats.
Very similar to the Superior Township election for the board of trustees, Ypsilanti Townships four incumbent trustees were reelected in the townships only contested local election. Jean Hall Currie, Stan Eldridge, Mike Martin, and Scott Martin, all Democrats, each received over 20 percent of the townships votes. Lawrence W. Johnson, the Libertarian challenger, received 4.51 percent of the votes. Thats in the range I actually expected, Johnson said. Johnson said he didnt expect to win the election because Ypsilanti

Both school districts passed a proposal to merge on Nov. 6. would be responsible for hiring a new superintendent for the consolidated district, who would set up a process for hiring new building administrators. The districts will operate separately until June 2013. All faculty and staff would be required to reapply for their positions and contracts would have to be rewritten, according to Menzel, which results in districts-wide layoffs of all staff. Staff reduction, unfortunately, will be a necessity, regardless of the consolidation outcome, Menzel said. Neither district can continue to staff at the current levels, not with a $10 million deficit in Ypsilanti and a $2.5 million deficit in Willow Run. They will have to make drastic budget cuts to get on the right side of the ledger. While the new district will call for the hiring of staff from the groundup, that doesnt mean it wont be from
