We sure have been keeping busy here at the Infant Center and had a FUN month in Octo- ber. We cant believe November is here. This month is all about being THANKFUL! Heres what our little pumpkins did last month: Darcy Turns 1 on the 21st, Hap- py Birthday! She is walking more & more every day and is doing a great job sleeping on her cot like a big girl. Finley is our big one year old. He is waving goodbye and work- ing on his animal sounds. Aubrey waves and loves to stand up. She also likes to mim- ic sounds that we make. Olive is pulling herself up and loves to talk to us and her friends. Madison is walking everywhere and is starting to sleep on a cot. She is also learning to share and help the teachers with the babies. Isabella is rolling over and start- ing to stand with assistance. She loves music and likes to watch her older friends eat lunch in the high chair. Thank you to the parents who ordered Carmel apples for our school fundraiser. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We hope you get to spend it those you love.

Toddler Room: Mrs. Esther, Miss Courtney, Miss Paige

The holiday season is upon us and it just keeps getting busier and busier. First we want to give a huge Welcome to our new friends, Ashton, Charlotte and Savannah. We are so glad to have you. Hop onto the tractor and lets take a ride into November. We start off with exploring all our friendly farm ani- mals. During circle time, we will read and sing about Old McDonald's farm. In our sensory table, we will have some pretend hay with our mini farm animals. The art barn will be filled with cotton ball sheep, felt horses, and painted cows. On Thursday the 8th, we will have a mud day so make sure to wear clothes that can get muddy and dirty. Also make sure to have an extra set of clothes in your child's cub- by. As we cruise on the tractor, we enter the orchards full of apples and fall leaves. We discover all the wonderful colors of fall. We will be painting with the colors of fall and rec- reating the wonderful fall trees with our hands and fingers. Circle time will be filled with books of fall and apples. We will be coring and peeling apples for snack. We need someone to donate a few apples during this week. Our tractor ride is coming to an end while we head into Thanksgiv- ing. Toddlers will be having a Talkin Turkey Luncheon on Tuesday Novem- ber 20th. Watch for the flyer to let each family know what to bring to help out. We will make our famous handprint turkies and practice our turkey calls during music and dancing. Ms. Courtney and Mrs. Esther would like to thank all the families of the class for all the donations last month. The month was a great suc- cess and the kids had a blast with our Monster Mash party. We couldn't have done it without you.

Beginners Class: Miss Anitra

Leaves are falling and turkeys are gob- bling in the Beginner class. November is the month we talk about fall, down on the farm and Thanksgiving. Our first week we will be talking about leaves and trees. We will explore the colors, sizes and shapes of leaves and how they grow on trees. Then we will talk about the many different kinds of trees there are. Some of the art we will make is handprint trees, fold over leaves, leaf collages, and much more. In our sci- ence table we will get to explore leaves with magnifying glasses. Our second week we will be down on the farm. While we are down on the farm we will see cows, horses, sheep, crows and scarecrows in our cornfield. We will have little barns and little farm animals to play with. We really like to play in mud too, so watch for our pigs rolling in the mud. After we get down and dirty, we will get to celebrate what we are thankful for. You guessed it, Thanks- giving time. We will make cornucopias and turkey handprints. On Nov. 20th we will have a Down on the Farm party. I thought this theme would be fun since we usually go with the typical Thanks- giving theme. The sign-up will be on the Parent Board soon. Please remem- ber we are closed Nov. 21-23. Our last week in Nov. we will talk about apples and acorns. We will have an apple taste test to see what kind of apple we will like best. If you can help out with bringing an apple let me know, but we dont need them until this last week. Miss Anitra will be on vacation on Nov. 29th, 30th and Dec. 3rd. Last but not least I would like to welcome Lily to our class (Nathan Sa. sister). We are so happy to have her join our thankful bunch. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving.

Pre-K Room: Mrs. Jen, Miss Kristie, Miss Hannah, Miss Charisse
October was a great month for Pre-K. We learned so much about our bodies both inside and out! Pre-K had so much fun meeting some not-so-scary skeletons who showed us what we look like inside and what our bones do to help us move. We had a special visit from the bone doctor and he was very impressed with all of our bone knowledge! We made so many outstand- ing art projects during the month of October that we ran out of space to display them all! Pre-K also got to carve pumpkins and see what's in- side. They don't have bones like us, but they do have seeds and lots of slimy guts! Our two jacko-lanterns turned out fabulously and we really enjoyed having them hang out in our classroom. Pre-K also met some friends who sleep all day and stay up all night! We met owls, bats, black cats, and spooky spiders. We had a "monsterously" good time with our new monster friends, too. Pre-K went on a hunt for Dracula and they were not afraid! Our days were filled with candy corn sorting, Halloween sticker art, and decorating our room to prepare for our Mon- ster Mash Bash on Halloween. What a "spooktacular" success! Thank you so much to every- one who donated, we could not have pulled it off without your help! A special thanks to the Kain family for donating the HUGE pumpkins, the Great Pumpkin movie, all the art supplies, and so much more. You really are Pre-K angels! Pre -K also had a blast learning about Dia de Los Muertos for the first time. It was so awesome to celebrate a holiday from another culture, and we can't wait to do it again next year. We are so excited to continue the holiday fun into the month of November. Have you ever had to make a difficult choice and just couldn't seem to decide what to do? We are in the same boat here in Pre-K when it comes to the themes for November. We were trying to go through and decide the themes by weeks like we usually do, but we are having the hardest time. There are so many things we want to do and just can't seem to narrow them down by weeks, so we have decided to call the whole month "Autumn Discovery". During our month of discovery we will be talking about the many parts of a tree, from bark to leaves, and the fruit and nuts that they sometimes grow. We will learn some fun songs with movements for trees. Our favorite song from Music & Movement Mondays is "Big Oak Tree". Be sure to ask us to perform it for you! Another topic that we think will be fascinating is learning about all the different har- vest items. The list will include gourds, squash, pumpkins, and Indian corn. If we get some of the items donated, Pre-K will be able to see and feel the differences. We will also be filling our room with harvest art and getting in the mood for Thanksgiving! We will meet some silly turkeys and learn the story of Thanksgiving and what it means to give thanks. Pre-K will talk about all the things and people that we are thankful for. We will also be holding a Food Drive from No- vember 1st through the 16th! This is a GREAT way for all of us to learn about giving and making a difference in our community, and how even helping in a small way can add up to a big change if everyone contributes. Please bring non-perishable food items to our classroom and we will have a big box ready to collect them. Thank you so much in advance for helping us learn about helping others. We will also be hav- ing our own Thanksgiving celebration in Pre-K before we all leave for vacation! We will be hav- ing a special luncheon featuring some Southern favorites, such as macaroni & cheese, little smokies sausages, corn on the cob, and mini pumpkin pie bites for dessert. We are so thank- ful for every one of our students and their fami- lies. The last week of November will be spent getting ready for Miss Kristie's favorite holiday...CHRISTMAS! We can't believe it's already that time of year again! Get ready for Christmas carols, red and green paper chains, and lots of glitter. Just a couple of notes for parents: Please remember to check the snack calendar for your snack day! It's important that everyone sticks to the calendar so we have the right amount of food every day. If you lose your cal- endar or don't get one, there is one posted on the parent board and you can always ask us for another copy. It is also very important that you bring your child's bedding in a pillowcase or re- usable canvas bag. Plastic bags have been banned in SLO County so we are not able to provide them anymore. The bag just makes it so much easier for us to store the bedding through the week so we really appreciate it! Thank you so much for everything each one of you does to make our days in Pre-K fabulous. You are amazing! Have a great Thanksgiving! P.S. Don't forget-- School will be closed Monday, November 12th for Veterans Day and November 21-23 for Thanksgiving
