Registration for Spring 2013

IP Globally-Focused Coursework: As registration comes, keep in mind the three
global coursework areas that you must complete: 1) International Relations, 2) Global Economics, 3) Country of Regional. Check the details on the Coursework Requirements section of the IP Website, and see next page.

Language Courses:

Ya la tomaste? All students must take through at least the 2002 level or equivalent of a language other than English. Consider your language needs and the IP language requirements when signing up for summer and fall classes.

Study and Work Abroad:

Students studying abroad or working abroad this fall for the 1st and/or 2nd term of their IP international experience must have the term(s) approved for the IP. To gain approval, please complete the International Experience Approval Form and see advisement and signatures from the representatives listed on the form. It is highly recommended to have this form completed and turned into the Office of International Education before Phase I registration so that you can sign up for the IP audit course (no credit/no homework!) for the semester youre abroad.
(Note if this is your 2nd term, and you have already submitted an International Experience Approval, you do not need to do so again, unless there was a change to your plan).

Georgia International Leadership Conference

GA Tech student leaders interested in leadership, cross-cultural communication, and meeting people from different cultures are invited to apply to join the GA Tech delegation at the annual Georgia International Leadership Conference (GILC). The conference will take place January 18-20 at Rock Eagle, Georgia. This conference will bring together over 200 of Georgia's international and US students for a weekend of cross-cultural training, leadership development, and teambuilding. Students from colleges and universities all over Georgia participate in this event. Current student leaders or students interested in becoming an organization officer are encouraged to apply.

Georgia Tech may send a total of 15 students, to be determined by the Office of International Education (OIE). OIE is able to pay the registration fee for ten students and will award this to the most qualified applicants. The remaining 5 students can pay the fee ($70) on their own or request a student organization to sponsor them. Transportation, lodging, and meals during the conference will be provided for all students.

IP Student Highlight/Trip: International Medical Relief of Children

My name is Marcela Moreno and I am the Publicity Chair for the International Medical Relief of Children. We are an organization dedicated to providing children an equal opportunity to benefit from modern medicine. Our main focuses are our planned trips to South America during Winter and Spring Breaks and then community service projects around the Atlanta area. As an International Plan student myself, I know whenever I am in Atlanta, I get the itch to leave and this is a great way to help communities out and have a great break abroad! Typically, these trips are a week long and most days are spent volunteering at the clinic and some days you have a chance to visit nearby attractions! I have attached information on each of the locations that we will host trips to on this e-mail (We also host trips to Nicaragua but do not have a flyer for that). While we will continue hosting these trips, we are really pushing to make an impact on low-income communities in our own backyard! Also, we are hoping to have fundraising events for all of our members so the costs stay down and everybody benefits from that. If you have any questions at all about our organization, please do not hesitate to contact me! or the most updated information, I recommend you like our Facebook page! www.facebook.com/GaTechFIMRC

Volunteer for TEAM BUZZ!

Saturday, November 3, 7:45AM TO 1:00PM
TEAM Buzz is an organization devoted to making Atlanta better. Through our corporate sponsorship, Georgia Tech is able to organize and support many community-enhancing events every year. Advisor Updates
New IP Faculty Representatives (CoC)
Thank you to Dr. Mike McCracken! Welcome to Dr. Irfan Essa and Dr. David White The IP welcomes the newest IP Faculty Representatives, Dr. Irfan Essa and Dr. David White who will now be advising College of Computing students in the International Plan. They will be replacing Dr. McCracken who we thank for his many years of service and commitment to the program. Warm welcome, Dr. Irfan Essan and Dr. David White.

Many thanks to all the IP Faculty Representatives!

Have you met your IP Faculty Representative? This person is a great resource who can help you develop the coherence of your personalized International Plan, will approve your international experience, supports students if you need to petition an IP regulation, and helps students develop their IP capstone projects. These faculty members also form a committee that helps drive the academic policies of the International Plan.

Find out who your IP Faculty Rep is on the Participating Majors page of the IP website:
http://www.internationalplan.gatech.edu/students/participating-majors

Please note that www.advising.gatech.edu mistakenly listed Dr. Parsons as an overall IP contact. Please note he is only for Business Administration majors.
