Example:: Quizzes Recitation Homework Theme

To compute grades for a student, teachers average ratings from various assessments like quizzes, recitation, and homework. They multiply these averages by assigned weights to get a weighted average for each assessment type. Teachers then add the weighted averages together to obtain the student's grade for each subject. To calculate an overall general average, teachers add the student's grades across subjects and divide by the total number of subjects. This general average is then reported on the student's progress report card.

To obtain the rating for the learning area in a grading period, get the average of all the ratings

entered in the Class Record under each measure of achievement. Multiply the result with the corresponding weight.

Example:

There shall be one (1) grade for MAKABAYAN, but the grades for the learning areas under MAKABAYAN will also be reflected in the report card. To compute the grades for MAKABAYAN: first, get the average rating of MSEP (Music, Arts & P.E.). Then, compute the average of HKS, EPP, and MSEP. The average rating of the three learning areas will be the grade for MAKABAYAN.

1. To obtain the average rating for MSEP, add the grades (computed value) of Music, Art & PE, divided by 3. Example: Music - 89 Arts - 90 PE - 88 267 3 = 89 Average for MSEP

2. Grade for MAKABAYAN.

Example: HKS - 88 EPP - 88 MSEP - 89 268 3 = 88.33 round off to 88

To arrive at the General Average of the pupil, add the grades for the four (4) core subjects plus MAKABAYAN, divided by 5. Example: Learning Areas English Filipino Science & Health Math MAKABAYAN 89 87 89 88 88 441 5 = 88.20 General Average = 88.20

The General Average to be reflected in the Progress Report Card of the pupil is 88.20.

Rounding off rule: Rounding numbers to the nearest hundredth is applied when computing for the following: Averages of the different measures of achievement Weighted average for each measure of achievement Computed value of the weighted averages for all measures of achievement General Average Example: 11.749 = 11.75; 88.176 = 88.18 The figures that will be rounded off to the nearest whole number are those to be entered in the Progress Report Card as: Rating for the learning area for each grading period Final rating for every learning area Example: 84.78 = 85; 86.14 = 86

For FINAL GRADE, since all quarters are supposed to be of equal importance, 25% should be given for each quarter. Example: 1st Grading 84 x 25% = 21.00 nd 2 Grading 86 x 25% = 21.50 rd 3 Grading 88 x 25% =22.00 th 4 Grading 91 x 25% = 22.75 87.25

To compute grade for quizzes, (daily/weekly/unit tests) refer to Table A.

For uniformity of standards, the pupils performance for recitations, homework, projects and other performance outputs, the teacher may use the following:

If pupils answers to questions are: Correct and excellently delivered With ease and minimal error With help given clues and with some errors With hesitance, doubtful answers and with many errors Without correct answers or do not like to answer at all 9-10 = Excellent 7-8 = Very Satisfactory 5-6 = Satisfactory 3-4 = Fair 1-2 = Needs Improvement

If pupils homework or assignment has: -

Complete and correct answers One error in the answers Two errors in the answer Three errors in the answer No correct at all or no homework or assignment

9-10 = Excellent 7-8 = Very Satisfactory 5-6 = Satisfactory 3-4 = Fair 1-2 = Needs Improvement

The teacher may consider the following criteria: If: -

Creativity (originally self-made/written) Visual impact (includes neatness, balance proportion and color harmony) With relevance to the objectives of the lesson Accuracy in following instructions Promptness and punctuality to submit on time on or before the due date

All the criteria are present Four (4) out of five (5) criteria are present Three (3) out of five (5) criteria are present Two (2) out of five (5) criteria are present One (1) out of five (5) criteria are present

9-10 = Excellent 7-8 = Very Satisfactory 5-6 = Satisfactory 3-4 = Fair 1-2 = Needs Improvement

Specific indicators shall be used in observing pupils behavior. The class adviser and other teachers handling the class shall give the rating for behavior observations:
