ABDUR RAHMAN UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGISTS INAUGURAL FUNCTION REPORT 2011-2012 A very pleasant Good morning to everyone present here. I take immense pleasure in welcoming the august presence of our chief guest MR.Iniya Nehru, our dynamic Registrar Dr. V. M. Periasamy, our beloved Head of the Department Dr. Latha Tamilselvan , our exceptional team of staff who are our great motivation, respected guests from other departments and my dear friends. It gives me great pleasure in addressing you all and presenting before you the report on the activities of the Society of Information Technologists in our college for the academic year 2011-2012. The inaugural function of the Society of Information Technologists was organized by our department on 17th August,2011. The function was presided over by Mr.ANAND MOHANRAM (delivery manager for ecommerce practice in retail business vertical,INFOSYS) delivered the special lecture on LATEST TRENDS IN IT. Dr.Latha Tamilselvan,our lovable head of the Department deliveredthe lecture on COMMUNICATION HISTORY . On 27h September 2011,a national level technical symposium ,popularly known as ICON 2k11, was organized by our department at the auditorium.thefunction was inaugurated by Mr.Sriramkumar.V.H. co founder&director watchy. He gave a enlightening talk on CURRENT TRENDS IN IT INDUSTRY.More than 1000 participants poured in from various colleges and participated in many events like Paper Presentation, Technical Quiz, Star of ICON, Debugging and several other non-technical cum talent-based events like dumb c,adzap,treasure hunt. Mr.N.Rajendran AP/IT&C.Vijayalakshmi AP/IT organized INTRA DEPARTMENT TECHNICAL CONTEST-CRESPHIREON 26th march-12`and regarding this cresphire, I am very proud to disclose the truth that only our department initiated the trend of conducting intra dept contests in 2003.since then every dept had their own intra dept fests

Student contributions: Mr. k.Shagul sheriff of final Year IT dept has attended workshops on MOBILE APPS DEVELOPMENT conducted by Microsoft foundation in SRM university . Ms.Sana moin,Nazeema Nazeer basha,Shamreen taj,Sangeetha,Rahmath hanifa,Qudhsia begum,Radhika,Hafsa shireen,Shafana fathima,Thasneem fathima,sukhmeet kaur sandhu,preethi,swathi,farheen sarwat,rizwan baig &riyazul abu backer of final year IT dept have undergone their implant training in HCL career development programme. Ms.Swathi& Ms.Preethi of final year IT dept have attended the workshop on Wikipedia conducted by MIT,Chennai Ms.Anis Fathima of final year IT had an implant training on uniq technologies and in android designing Mercy.J of III-yr IT attended workshop on MOBILE COMPUTING conducted by wipro technologies at anna university-MIT campus on 17th march 2012. Master.abdus saboor suhail of III-yr IT was awarded the best young speaker of cambridge english in asia-2011 by university of cambridge ESOL examinations on nov-2011 Mr.U.Ranjith of final year IT has been nominated as one of the Brand Ambassadors of CTS for the academic year 2012-13. Asha Kanna.M. Jeinul Shifara, Juvairiya Begum, Mahazabeen Fathima B.Tech students (2008- 2012 batch) on An Optimized Congestion Control Mechanism by using AntiCongestion Topology Routing (ACTR) Protocol in MANET in the CiiT International Journal of Wireless Communication in July 2012 issue.

S.Fathimuthu Shaniya,M.Tech student published the paper titled on Remote Desktop Access using Remote Frame Buffer in Mobile Cloud Environment in the CiiT International Journal of Networking and Communication Engineering in July 2012 issue. Industrial visit to SATISH DHAWAN SPACE CENTER at sriharikota was organized by the department for the PRE-FINAL year students on 11th july2012. there our students were given a chance of visiting the launchpad of chandrayan-1 and also they were taken to CTS(mepz) on 22nd oct 2011 along with the M.Tech It students.the visit was very useful as Mr.C.P.Ramesh,Senior Instructor,Cognizant academy delivered a seminar on THE BASICS OF CLOUD COMPUTING.

So till now past has passed wonderfully.now coming to the future progress of the SIT activities for the academic year 2012-2013.

What comes first and foremost on our mind on hearing the word SIT is always the ICON-2012-what more special about icon this year is all technical events will be conducted in their respective domains, thereby attracting more number of participants from the colleges across the nation through social interactions among student communities. cresphire-2012-to outbring the talents within the dept by organizing events both technical and non-technical. Mrs.Nabeena ameen AP/IT will be organizing a guest lecture on multimedia concepts . A workshop on MAYA & FLASH will be done by IFX private ltd in tambaram. An IV will be scheduled for the forthcoming semester to enhance the technical skills of the students. And last but not the least ,a software will be developed for the effective hostel administration in the forthcoming year as a token of memento from the 1st batch of BSA universitys IT dept. Finally, I take this opportunity to thank our dynamic Registrar Dr.V.M.Periasamy, our Head of the Department Dr. Latha Tamilselvan , and all our staff members (both teaching and non-teaching) who gave us constant support and encouragement without which we would not have achieved such great heights. I thank you once again !
