Letter from the President

We hope everyone enjoyed a Blessed and Merry Christmas and hoping 2012 will bring you good health, much happiness and continued success and prosperity! Have you ever looked at people who always seem happy no matter what and wonder how they do it? Here are some tips to help you keep a positive attitude in good times & bad. FTake passionate action towards your life. Do not just make it through the day, live it! Sink your teeth into it and live like it was your last day on earth. Live each day with passion. Passion and a positive attitude are contagious. You will find others attracted to you who are just as passionate about life and living! FAct instead of reacting. Do not wait until something bad happens then try to deal with it. Be proactive and make something good happen. You are responsible for what you make of the one life you have. Create the best life you possibly can, one day at a time. FBelieve each moment is perfect regardless of the outcome. Bad things happen. That is just a fact of life, but that doesnt mean you have to allow it to drag you down. Good can come from everything, no matter how bad it may be at the time. Learn to open yourself up to learn from and gain strength from the bad things that happen in your life. FLearn to always be grateful for what you have. It is a well-known fact that among successful people that having gratitude will get you more than not ever being satisfied. There is nothing wrong with having dreams and goals, but do not forget to be grateful for what you have already. A positive attitude attracts positive actions. Gratitude attracts positive energy. FAlways keep your sense of humor. Learn to laugh at yourself. Do not take yourself or life too seriously. FBelieve you are in charge of your own destiny. No one can take your dreams from you except for you. Life is not something that is going on around you. It is what you make of it!

Local Businesses Giving Back To The Community

This holiday season Diamond Envelope Corporation in Aurora teamed up with Banner Personnel in Naperville for the Walter and Connie Payton Toy Drive. Every year The Payton Foundation collects toys to be distributed to children who otherwise may go without on Christmas if not for the generous donation of local businesses. Employees at Diamond Envelope Corporation were encouraged to donate toys for the toy drive. What started out with one employees gesture of donating gifts rather than get an item for himself for his birthday, grew into an overwhelming paying it forward gesture by its 83 employees. A total of 112 toys were proudly donated to the Payton Foundation toy drive with the help of Banner Personnel coordinating the pickup. Management at Diamond was amazed at the generous donations made by all of its employees. Citing every one of us has had challenging times to go through with the economy, but remembering what giving back is all about during the holidays was the message our employees wanted to send out.

Now Showing New Paper Because videos.

As Domtars PAPER Because campaign continues to gain momentum, they are excited to launch a new series of Really, REALLY SHORT FILMS. The 30-second clips use satire to highlight the important role paper plays in our lives and how there is a better way to use paper responsibly. The five films found on paperbecause.com and domtar.com exaggerate scenarios to show how going paperless can mean going too far. In one video for example, office workers receive a ration of only five sheets of paper a month. With paper becoming so scarce, it sparks fights between coworkers who turn office supplies into weapons and set booby traps to get more paper. In another film, employees around a conference table need to take notes, but without paper they are forced to scribble on the table or on their clothes or even draw a pie chart on one workers back. The videos are a reminder of how putting something on paper is more meaningful. In one spot for instance, two acquaintances run into each other and they talk casually about going to lunch. When one guy suggests they put that in writing, the other one reveals the truth; SORRY I CANNOT DO THAT. I DONT WANT TO HANG OUT. These videos are a humorous way to make a very serious point. Paper still plays a vital role in our personal and professional lives and without a demand for paper, property owners might choose to develop more of their land rather than keeping it as forests.

Paper Based Communications An Integral Part of Marketing and Society

Paper based communications will continue to be an important part of our economy for years to come. Diamond Envelope Corporation, a member of the Envelope Manufacturers Association continues to support this statement. Most people are becoming inundated with e-mails both at home and at work and their electronic mailboxes are becoming full to the point they cannot read and keep up with all the material coming in. It is becoming too easy to hit the delete button and therefore the advertisers message is not delivering results. Epsilon has recently posted studies supporting direct mail and alerting marketers to continue using direct mail and other old medians to deliver the message. Direct mail still works and is profitable. Delivering a message through direct mail and using paper based communications to support electronic messages is producing greater results. Paper based communications is also supporting a jobs based industry. Over 8.6 million jobs or 6% of our nations jobs are represented through the mailing industry. Our industry represents over 1.2 trillion dollars in economic activity and over 7% of the nations GDP. Paper products are the most sustainable and environmentally friendly natural resource in America. Paper and print allow managers of land forests to continue growing and managing forests responsibly. The alternative would be to sell the land to developers basically eliminating the natural resource altogether. Paper is a truly renewable resource and one of the most recyclable products on earth. Paper is real and the ability to touch and feel paper will keep paper based communications and direct mail around for many years to come.

New Years Eve and Paper: New Years Wishes and Confetti

Millions of people watched the ball drop in New Yorks Times Square New Years Eve, either on television or in-person. At midnight, the ball dropped and tons of confetti fell into Times Square. It is quite a site on television and I would love to be there in person one year. What would New Years Eve be without confetti? Did you know that some of the confetti on New Years Eve in Times Square has peoples goals and wishes written on it? According to timessquarenyc.org, people can visit the Times Square Visitors Center and the confetti wishing wall. Visitors can write their wishes for the upcoming year and the confetti is added to the tons of confetti that falls New Years Eve. There is something special about confetti. Confetti has a way of making everyone feel like rock stars. It makes the moment all the more special.

Tips on New Years Resolution Success: Write Goals Down on Paper

Its New Years Eve and many people are looking to ring in 2012 in style. A new year means changes for many. Many people set New Years resolutions. According to usa.gov, some of the most common New Years resolutions are: * Drink less alcohol * Manage stress * Quit smoking * Lose weight * Eat healthier I am currently in the process of deciding my New Years Resolution. Like many, I am going to try and eat healthier and exercise more. However, I know many people never achieve their New Years Resolutions. I think writing down your resolutions on paper will help you achieve them. Its important to make your resolutions manageable. Do not set a goal that you know you cant achieve. I suggest sitting down and writing your plan down on paper. Write down small steps you will take to achieve your goal. Also, set a timeline that you want to achieve each step by. We all know that many people attempt to keep their new years resolution the entire year. However, after a few weeks, the excitement dies down and many people lose sight of their resolution.
