The Brachial Plexus
The Brachial Plexus
Topographical Divisions
Root Trunks o Upper/middle/ lower Cords o Lateral/medial/posterior Branches
Principal Nerves of the Upper Extremity(please refer to Snell book for the branches of the nerves listed below)
Radial nerve Median nerve Ulnar nerve The trunks may be affected in injuries above the clavicle The cords may be injuries below the clavicle The peripheral nerves may be involved more distal lesions, as they emerge between the clavicle and the axilla
[Type text]
o Failure of DIP flexion CTS- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome o Thenar wasting o Failure of opposition (thumb and pinkie) flexion only
Median nerve damage(unable to do flexion theoretically but because there is still innervation by the ulnar nerve, so pwede pa slight flexion)
