    Title: Upgrading from 8550 to 9900


    This Tech-Tip will describe what is required to upgrade an existing 8550 Transmitter installation to the new Signet 9900 Smart ProTM Transmitter.

    Sensor Compatibility The 9900 Transmitter is compatible with all GF Signet flow sensors (515, 525, 2000, 2100, 2507, 2536, 2537, 2540, 2551, and 2552). Signet flow sensors 515, 525, 2000, 2100, 2507, 2536 and 2540 provide a frequency output. (Flow sensors 2551 and 2552 can be configured with either Digital (S3L) or Frequency outputs). Depending on the sensor configuration, the 9900 Transmitter can be configured for a frequency or S3L signal. 515, 525 and 2536 can be run on Loop Power. All other flow sensors require DC power. Upgrading from an 8550 panel mount installation to the 9900 requires no mechanical changes to the sensors. There are, however, wiring differences. Please refer to the 9900 manual at www.gfsignet.com for sensor wiring instructions for your application.

    Field Mount Installations The 9900 Field Mount Transmitter is only available with an open collector output. The Relay Module is not compatible with the 9900 Field Mount Transmitter. The 9900 Field Mount Transmitter can utilize an existing 8050, 8051 or 8052 field enclosure.
