RHEOSTAT
A rheostat is an electrical component that has j an adjustable resistance. It is a type of potentiometer that has two terminals instead of three three.

The basic principle used by rheostats is Ohms law, which states that current is inversely proportional to resistance for a given voltage. Rheostats do not have polarity and operate the same when p y p the terminals are reversed. Applications: Light dimmers use rheostats to limit the current passing through the light bulbs in order to change their brightness. Motor controller also use rheostats to control the speed of a motor by limiting the flow of current through them. They are used in many small appliances such as blenders, mixers, fans, and power tools.

WATTMETER
Th The wattmeter tt t is i an electrodynamic instrument for measuring the electric power of g p any given circuit. The device consists of a pair of fixed fi d coils, k il known as current t coils, and a movable coil known as the potential coil. p The current coils are connected in series with the circuit, while the potential coil i connected i h i l il is d in parallel.

TACHOMETER
A tachometer is an instrument measuring the p rotation speed of a shaft or disk, as in a motor or other machine. The device usually displays the revolutions per minute (RPM) on a calibrated analogue dial, or digital displays. l l
