Example of these are buying new dress even if there is no need to buy a new one, or purchase items that attract ones attention. Worse is giving a party or blow-out in spite of financial difficulties. This is one practice common among Filipinos and has been already part of our culture and Filipino generosity. Being generous is good but it has its own limit especially if it involves money. Before spending money for blow-outs and parties just to please others, we must think about the consequences of spending. D. Application Cognitive Have students solve problems involving interest from their mathematics workbook. Affective Discuss with the children the implications of spending in each situation depicted in the problem. Example: Problem Implications Is it worth buying? Why? Rainy days is here again. Mother finds it difficult to dry the clothes of her 4 children during these days. She decides to buy a washing machine worth Php 10,000 and payable within 5 months with an interest rate of 15% per year. Questions to ask: 1. How much does Mother has to pay every month? 2. Can the family income of Php 12,000 accommodate this expense?
