Presidents Report from Kristin Ballard
Last week was our last Board meeting for my year which we made sure was over in time for the .football! Where has the year gone? I thank all our members for their commitment and attendance this year I have very much appreciated the support and understanding. It is with regret that I inform you that my ex mother in law passed away on Monday she was a very special lady who decided when it was time to go well past her use by date was her saying. We were friends for over 40 years I will miss her. Next week is our changeover, Hat Day and celebration (belatedly) of our 60 th birthday let us celebrate our past year and look forward to the new year with Natalie at the helm. This week will include some discussion for the new year, finalising of the past year and some welcome visitors see you there.

Renal Unit We are now looking for donations of the following items for the Queanbeyan Renal Unit
kids colouring in books pencils/textas/crayons plastic toys (eg blocks, trucks) that can be easily washed.
These are so that a small toy box can be established in the waiting room.

2012 District Changeover - 1 July 2012
Where - The Abbey: O'Hanlon Place, Nichols ACT. Time - 12.00 for 12.30pm. You are invited to the District 9710 Changeover to celebrate the great year we have enjoyed under the leadership of DG Rob and Beth Woolley. The winners of the District Awards will be announced thanks to the work of Anton Pemmer, Graham Kinraid and Noel Trevaskis. Lunch will be a 2 course meal with alternate meals of: Main - Pan seared barramundi or Prosciutto wrapped beef fillet, with bread and mix of sides. Dessert - Yellow nectarine & vanilla pannacotta or assortment of seasonal fruit. Tea and brewed coffee If you have special dietary requirements please register these on the registration form. The cost of the meal is $35 per person, wine, beer and soft drinks are available at the bar. Please try and arrange a table from your Club and help us celebrate the year that was. 2012 Sister City Visit

Queanbeyan City Council is seeking applications from interested students and residents to take part in a visit to Councils Sister City of Minami Alps in Japan. Applications are currently being invited from Queanbeyan students and residents interested in participating in the exchange which will visit Minami Alps departing 23 September and returning 2 October 2012. Applications are open to Queanbeyan students aged between 14 and 17 and a delegation of 10-13 students is sought. Additionally, 2-3 chaperones are required to take part in the exchange. To be eligible to travel as a chaperone applicants must undertake a working with children check. Exchange participants will have to pay for their own airfares and take spending money. Currently return air fares to Tokyo are between $1700 and $2000 and spending money would be minimal.
Applications must be submitted by close of business on Friday 29 June.

GO RIDE 4 GO RED at Riverside Plaza
Calling all local businesses, politicians, trades people, footy players, cycling enthusiasts and every one of all shapes and sizes to participate in the 8 hour challenge of Go Ride 4 Go Red Thursday 28 June from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm Riverside Plaza is again partnering with the Heart Foundation for Go Red for Women, to raise funds & awareness for womens heart health issues. Did you know that heart disease: Is the number one killer of Australian women Claims the lives of 31 women every day (more than 11,00 a year) Kills more than 4 times as many women as breast cancer Affects almost as many women as men Our aim this year is to raise $5,000. All money raised will be donated to the Heart Foundation Where: Riverside Plaza food court When: Thursday 28 June Time: 10:00am-6:00pm (dont worry, you dont have to ride the whole day, just a 15 minute block) Well have 6 bikes set-up in The Food Court and monitored by the Go Figure Gym team. The instructors will encourage people to ride and participate. Go Ride (Solo): Enter yourself into the Individual challenge and ride for 15 minutes. The challenge is to ride the furthest distance. You may enter as many times as you like. Entry fee is a $15 donation (minimum) Individuals can source sponsorship for their ride. Example $1 for every kilometre. Go Ride (Team): Dont want to ride alone? Get a team of 4 together to ride Each team member has 15 minutes to ride The challenge is to ride the furthest combined distance Entry fee is a $50 donation per team (minimum) Teams can source sponsorship for their ride. They raised over $120 what a fantastic job guys!!! Friendship Beyond Club Functions (FBCF) You might have noticed a few FBCF events listed in our calendar in the upcoming months. This was an idea discussed at the President Elect training earlier this year. It is purely a chance for Rotarians, friends and family to have a social outing of some kind (other than socializing at club functions). Our first two FBCF events are a trip to the movies in August and a Coffee & Cake morning tea in October. We will see how these first two go, and if successful we will try to have a FBCF event ever few months. If you have any suggestions for what types of outings we should host, please let us know.
