You should utilise theory from any aspect of this section of the module and wider reading, where appropriate. Please assume that the reader(s) thoroughly understands the theoretical aspects. You must refer and apply supporting theoretical underpinnings, but describing these models should not form part of the submission. Hence you will APPLY your chosen models/theories to your assessment of your behaviour/performance. You should make sure you thoroughly understand the marking criteria on the attached sheet and the plagiarism and cheating rules of the University. It is vital that your communication skills aid the reader in comprehending your reflections. It should only be necessary to read your project once to assess it. Grammar, spelling, punctuation and fluency will be taken into consideration. Your work should be wordprocessed using any appropriate features of Word, and using Times New Roman font with pitch size 12 and 1.5 line spacing. You must use the Harvard Reference (citation) system throughout your assignment, including your bibliography in which you are expected to include a minimum of 5 relevant web sites. realising that teams develop and work via communications, and that your Belbin role(s) impacts on both of these

You may wish to consider the following questions (if appropriate):

What did you learn about your skill level from your interactions and observations of other people you worked with and were you surprised at any differences/ similarities? To what extent did the models covered on this module give you any new insights into your performance? How has that informed what your development needs are?

Examples of relevant team-working and communication models we have covered include: Belbins Team Roles, Tuckmans Group Dynamics theory, Berlos communication cycle, KISS, networks. This list is not exhaustive. Masters students are expected to be able choose the relevant theories to apply.

Evaluate (by applying models) your team-working and communication skills performance; why and how would you behave differently with hindsight. members, rather than evaluating the teams skills. Evaluate yourself, not the team. This evaluation should be based on how and why you interacted as you did with your team

Identify how your team-working and communication skills need further development. Do not refer to anyone by name, gender or ethnicity. Instead use member A, B, or C. You can write it in the first person, e.g. I found that. For this assignment. Remember to state whose model you are referring to and where you read about it (by using the Harvard referencing system)

Assessment Guidelines Grading Criteria: Level M modules require that work carried out will incorporate most of the following features: Fail (Below 40 marks):

The essay will lack the structure, content and use of appropriate terminology that would be expected from a student able to conduct a disciplined analysis of Strategic Management issues; or make appropriate conclusions following a critical evaluation of a range of theoretical strategic options.

The essay will not demonstrate ability for independent thought and is therefore unlikely to contain a recognizable critique of academic literature although it may list some theories/concepts that might, or might not, apply.

The essay will not balance academic theory and the practical application of such to a welldescribed strategic issue.

The essay will provide little, if any, evidence of the student having "read around" the subject matter. As such the essay will contain few, if any, academic references or, if they do, sources are unlikely to be consistently and/or accurately cited and referenced using Harvard.

The essay may be inconsistent in approach as well as content - sometimes minor areas, or inappropriate theories, might be discussed at length while relevant or seminal theories are omitted all together. Indeed it may not be clear exactly which theoretical area or practical problem the student is critically analyzing in the essay.

Any conclusions to resolve the strategic issues discussed will probably not result from a disciplined analysis of the problem or a critical evaluation of a range of theoretical strategic options available to the organisation given the prevailing environment.

Pass (50 to 59 marks): Sufficient issues are addressed in order to distinguish between the rote learning student and those students with the ability to generate a required level of independent thought processes but which is inadequate to achieve a distinction due to inconsistency or due to insufficient understanding. Use of structure and terminology that shows an ability to undertake disciplined analysis of the issues presented.

Content and structure that indicates an ability to analyse evaluate and make logical conclusions regarding the marketing issues that encompass both practical examples and theoretical elements.

Evidence that the theories behind the practical application of Strategic concepts are clearly understood but with certain aspects of the analysis being covered more extensively than others that indicates a less insightful critique of particular concepts.

Use of more dated, limited or unrelated academic referencing showing literature review and research technique that is short of a distinction level.

Merit (60 to 69 marks) Evidence of a full understanding of the possibilities and limitations of the methodologies and models employed Evidence of ability to make a sustained argument using appropriate evidence. Evidence of ability to critically evaluate evidence and synthesise generalisations.

Evidence of an appropriate level of critical analysis and judgment including justification of the criteria.

Appropriate reading with effective use of a range of relevant sources. Effective deployment of reading in supporting arguments. A good grasp of the requirements necessary to conduct an analysis of practical issues; an ability to critique concepts from the literature reviewed; and to make clear and practical conclusions to resolve the issues faced. Distinction (Above 70 marks): Structure and content that distinguishes it as being well rounded in both structure and content with practical and theoretical aspects of the paper being more balanced and with conclusions put forward based on sound theory that shows theoretical evidence. Strong evidence of having read extensively around the chosen topic with extensive referencing of the key theories and arguments proposed and which encompasses the creative application of academic knowledge in such a way that it may well lead to the extension of such academic knowledge. Consistency in the arguments used to evaluate and critically analyse the strategies and theories reviewed as well as in the utilisation of basic analytical tools.
