THE REV. MELINDA HALL, Deacon Volume 12-04

JAMES DUNGEY, Sr. Warden

We Welcome Melinda Hall to the Church of Our Saviour!

What does this mean for our church?

1) In November 2012 our status as a parish will
be moved to a Mission status.
All funds and accounts will stay as they
are! This status change is not and I repeat is
not because of Melinda+. This is due to the
financial constraints that we would have to
overcome should we tried to find a full time
priest.
Can we become a Parish status again?
YES

2) The Diocese has committed at least $10,000
back to Our Saviour to help with the
compensation package for Melinda+.
Due to Melindas husband (Nathans)
ministry, her compensation benefits have
been reduced for us.

3) The Diocese will be sending in a consultant
to visit and mentor us on Church
Development & Growth.

4) We will have a minister for our needs during
the week not just on Sunday. I commend the
congregation for doing as much as we have
over the last 3 years. The prayers, working
together, staying together and worshiping
together.

5) This is going to be an exciting time for the
Church of Our Saviour. I truly believe God
is leading us. (would you call someone to
come in July when attendance is supposed to
be down? You can continue to keep
attendance up.) Just because Melinda+ will
be here is not the time to sit back and see
what happens. Now is the time to be
committed to help more than ever.

6) Changes: Who knows? I do know if we try
to maintain and continue to do the same
things we have for the last 40+ years, will
we get different results than what we have?
Have things changed in your household?
Have you had to make changes? Of course
you have. The church is your Family, we
will continue to make changes, but the true
foundation is the belief and faith we each
of us have with Jesus Christ. Now is the
time to continue and strengthen that love &
peace with Christ.

Dear friends,
Instead of simply celebrating
Independence Day this year, I
find myself happily celebrating
Inter-Dependence Day on July
1. Although reflecting on the
national independence gained
in 1776 has merit, Ive been contemplating the
inter-dependence gained in joining my journey to
yours, the congregation of Church of our Saviour.

Being the body of Christ in the world has little to do
with independence when it comes down to it. We
are called to exist as a body- as an inter-dependent
group of people who love and rely on one another.
Far from the harms of co-dependency, an inter-
dependent relationship is one of health and
vibrancy, where each member uses his or her talents
to serve others and to better the community (2 Cor.
12). God uniquely gifts and equips each of us, not
so we can individually go our own way, but instead
for mutual service in the body of Christ (Eph. 4:11-
13). Inter-dependence meaning recognizing the
gifts and contributions others bring to the body; it
means relying on their love and service in our lives.
We depend on each other as members of Christ,
called to serve the world.

Such a community of love and relationship finds the
perfect model in God. The triune God exists in
perfect, inter-dependent love and relationship
between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Each dwells within the other, dancing together in
perfect harmony yet remaining different and distinct
from the others. This is the model for our
community: each member comes as he or she is and
joins the dance, offering talents and offering
partnership in love. Just as the love of the Trinity
overflowed into creation and splashes into our lives,
so the love of our community should gurgle and
surge outside our doors into the lives of our
neighbors, beckoning them to come and join.

So I come, excited and joyful to join the dance here
at Church of our Saviour. I look forward to getting
to know you- as a community and as individuals-
and to discovering together where God is calling us.
One thing is certain: we are called to depend on one
another, to love one another, and to use our talents
to spread the good news in our area.

In Christ,
Melinda

Thanks for all your help.
Special Thanks to Ray Burnette & John Henry for keeping the yard looking great.

We have accomplished a lot buthere it is we want to keep future projects in mind and what it
will cost. These projects are not in any priority.

Handi-cap Accessibility $80-100,000
Air-Conditioning - whole church building $45-50,000
Electrical Lighting changes to all ?
Fixtures except main church $6,000
Electrical changes for offices $750
Repair church bells $800
Install wood laminate in upper hall
o New rubber stair treads rear hall $10,000
Replace windows in both offices $3,500
Remove cement between shed & school alley $1,000
Blacktop parking area & drainage ?
Tables & chairs for undercroft $5,000
Additional piping repairs in boiler room $1,500
Repair or relocate bathrooms ?

I am sure we could all add to this list. We are just trying to keep this in front of you. Why?
Maybe there is something you would like to contribute to, maybe you would like to leave
something in your estate to help in the future with the items. It takes a lot to keep the church up
and running and to be the place people would like to attend. How can we do all this? There is an
old saying How do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time; and that is how we can attempt
some of these items - one at a time with everyones help.
