Class Reflection EDLS670
Class Reflection EDLS670
Betty Hustead 4/18/2012 Instructions: Please take time to reflect on your learning in this course. The two-sided reflection template provides you the prompts for this introspection. You can use the return or tab to move between the cells in the document. Save this electronically and submit in accordance with the guidelines provided by your facilitator. From your perspective what were two or three key takeaways from the course? Explain. Takeaways from this class would be the importance of collaboration, communication, a universal mission, a pathway to get there, and connections. If the staff in a school does not work as a team, they are not connected, they will not be able to reach the ultimate goal/mission, to educate students. The administration need to have a feel for what is going on within the staff, as well as, how teaching is going. The department leaders and instructional coach should also keep a close eye on the pulse of the staff to be able to help the administration out with problem solving, before a war starts. The mission will be reached when the staff collaborates and uses the team effort to provide the best education for the students. Additional comments or things I want to remember: Feedback on the grading was great! If you were to take this class again what would you stop doing, what would you do differently and what would you want more of? Explain. I would like to have had more time spent on conflict management practice, because many of us may run into a lot of conflict while starting new procedures or concepts throughout our classes and/or schools. Maybe using case studies, role playing, practice for conflict or communication skills. The case studies can be created by students rather than books and then each student could run the activity to be able to practice what they may run into for real. I would have liked a little more information on the final project and time to work on it during class. This would allow time for questions, feedback, and reflection to make the project be much more effective.
