Code Division Multiple Access

CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is a wireless communication technology that allows multiple users to access a channel using unique code assignments. It emerged as a solution to problems with FDMA and TDMA technologies. CDMA provides multiple access capability, frequency and time hopping spread spectrum, protection against multi-path interference, privacy, interference rejection, and anti-jamming capability. The document discusses CDMA concepts, features, simulation results showing bit error rate performance under different noise levels, and inferences about CDMA system performance in multi-path environments.

(CDMA)

The changing phase of modern Cell phone technology

Introduction to Multiple Access..

Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)

Drawbacks ?
FDMA : 1. It is analog mode of transmission 2. Bandwidth is limited TDMA: 1. It is digital mode of transmission 2. It is time limited 3. Does not support multimedia services CDMA emerged as the solution to these problems

CDMA Concepts..

Each user is given a unique code This is a spread spectrum modulation Processing gain Bt Gp Bi Bt = transmission bandwidth
Bi =information bandwidth

Spread spectrum analysis

CDMA features

Multiple access capability Frequency & Time hopping spread spectrum Protection against multi-path interference Privacy Interference rejection Anti-jamming capability

Inferences

Simulation of CDMA system operating in multi-path/fading environment is done , considering thermal noise and interference These include bit error rate(BER) as a function of the thermal noise level (PE vs Eb/No) with ricean factor k
