LRFD Slab Transverse Reinforcement

This document provides calculations for the transverse reinforcement of an LRFD slab. It specifies minimum requirements for top and bottom slab reinforcement layers. Four layers of reinforcement are required with a maximum spacing of 18 inches. Design conditions and parameters are also specified, including beam spacing, slab thickness, concrete strength. Interior bay and overhang slab designs are calculated, including equivalent strip widths, slab weights, applied moments, and required steel areas and spacings. Design is checked against LRFD strength and extreme limit state criteria.

LRFD 3.6.1.3.4 - commentary states that a 25 ft strip may be used if the rail/parapet is continuous. If the rail is not
continuous or is of the "flow through" type use the strip as defined in Table 4.6.2.1.3-1.
