Desire2Learn: The Short, Short Version

Finding Your Course


1. In your Web browser, go to http://ggc.desire2learn.com Note: Do not type www in the address. Note: Mozilla Firefox is the recommended Web browser on both Windows computers and Macs. 2. Enter your CampusConnect username and password. 3. Click Login. In the center of the screen, you will see a My Courses widget. In the instructor tab, your courses will be listed, grouped by quarter. Click the name of a course to enter it.

Posting Your Syllabus


1. When in your course, click Content in the top navbar. Note: All content in a Desire2Learn course is organized into modules and topics. A Module is an organizing unit, like a folder. A Topic is an actual piece of content, like a file, a link, or an HTML page. Click New Module to create a module. Enter a title, like Course Documents. Click Save. Click Manage Content to return to the previous screen. 6. Click New Topic to add your syllabus. 7. Click Upload New File. 8. In the Parent Module drop-down menu, select the Module you created. 9. Enter a title, like Syllabus. 10. Click Browse. Find the Syllabus file on your computer. 2. 3. 4. 5. Note: It is recommended that you upload your syllabus as a PDF rather than a Word document to give your students a better experience. 11. Click Save. 12. Click View Content to see your syllabus how students will view it.

Activating Your Course


As in Blackboard, your course must be activated before it is visible to students. 1. From the My Home screen (the screen you see when you first log in to the system), click the pencil icon next to the name of your course. Note: To return to the My Home screen, click the DePaul logo in the upper-left corner from any page within Desire2Learn. 2. Select the Course is active checkbox. 3. Click Save.

Emailing Your Class


1. When in your course, click Classlist in the top navbar. 2. To Email everyone in your course, including students, instructors, and teaching assistants, click Email everyone on this tab. 3. Enter a subject, just as you would in an email client like Outlook. 4. Compose your email in the Message field. 5. Click Send. Note: To Email an individual student, click that students name in the Classlist.

Posting a News Announcement


1. When in your course, click Course Home in the top navbar. 2. In the News widget, click the green plus button. 3. Enter a headline for your News announcement. 4. Enter the text of your News announcement in the Content field. 5. Set start and end dates to control when the News announcement will be visible to students. 6. Click Save.
