1945 - The Viet Minh seizes power. Ho Chi Minh announces Vietnams Independence.

1946 French Forces attacks.

1956 Vietnamese President, Ngo Dinh Dien begins campaign Against political dissidents.

1963 US enters the wars and military advisors rise to 12,000.

1965 200,000 combat troops arrive In South Vietnam.

1973 Peace contract signed, US And French leave Vietnam.

1975 North Vietnam takes over the South. After Ngo Dinh Dien surrenders, North Vietnam takes control of the entire country.

1979 Vietnam invades Cambodia but leaves in 1989.

2000 US government visits Vietnam to Help recover damages from the war. He Estimates 40, 000 people were killed.

2010 Government funds to help remove Agent Orange, a spray Used by the US in the war to clear Vegetation.
