1. Write down the Jacobian matrix for four noded quadrilateral element. 2. Define super parametric element. 3. What is axisymmetric element. 4. Write down the mass matrix and stiffness matrix for longitudinal vibration of bar. 5. What are the three methods to solve eigen value problems. PART B (2 x 16 = 32, 1x 8 = 8 Marks) 6. a] Consider the fixed fixed beam shown in fig. Let the length L=1 m, E= 2 x 1011 N/m2, area of cross section, A= 300 cm2, Moment of inertia I = 100 mm4, density = 7800 kg/m 3. Determine the natural frequency using the two types of mass matrix i.e., lumped mass matrix and consistent mass matrix. (16)
(16) 7.a] For the element shown in fig, determine the stiffness matrix. Take E = 200 GPa and poison ratio = 0.25. (16)
(or)
B] A four noded rectangular element is shown in fig. Determine the following: Jacobian Matrix, Strain Displacement matrix, Element stresses.. Take E= 2 x 10 5 N/mm2, v = 0.25, u= [ 0, 0, 0.003, 0.004, 0.006, 0.004, 0 ,0]T =0, =0. Assume plane stress condition. (16)
8.a) Evaluate the Cartesian coordinate of the point P which has local coordinates =0.6 and = 0.8 as shown in fig. (8)
(or) b) For the one-dimensional bar shown in fig. determine the natural frequencies of longitudinal vibration using two elements of equal length. Take E=2x 10 5 N/mm2, =0.8 x 10-4 N/mm3 and L= 400mm. (8)
