Google To Mi

This document provides steps for mapping points plotted in Google Earth to MapInfo software. It explains that the user should first save plotted points from Google Earth as a KML file, then open the KML file in Excel. Next, the user should manipulate the Excel data, copying only the points with coordinates to a new Excel file. Finally, the user should save the Excel file and export it to MapInfo to create points.

GOOGLE EARTH TO MAPINFO

STEPS:

EXAMPLE: (FROM GOOGLE ERTH)

The following points were plotted directly from Google Earth

Inside Google Earth, Save the folder containing points plotted as kml file. (kmz is not
supported so might as well save your file as kml)

Locate the kml file then open with excel

Open with XML and manipulate the data (delete the data that is unneccessary)

Delete since this is just added textonly those with coordinates are essential

You can just copy those with coordinates in to another excel file and after some data manipulationyour file can look something like this but it is up to you if there are others you want to add (In my case, I
copied the ones in yellow box and deleted all other data except for the name of the points and its coordinates since they are the only thing I needed to export in MapInfo)

Save as Excel File and Export to Mapinfo then create points from MapInfo

END
