ADVANTAGES OF INTERCHANGES

Traffic move freely with fewer interruption. Speed limits are typically higher. There is improved operation efficiency and safety as well as reduced right-ofway. Interchanges such as the single point

urban interchange can allow for wider turns.

DISADVANTAGES OF INTERCHANGES

Generally due to longer and wider bridges, interchanges are costly. Due to large intersection area, the traffic lights need a longer yellow and red phase to clear the intersection. Interchanges such as the SPUI generally have a very large area of uncontrolled pavement in the middle of intersection.

ADVANTAGES OF FLYOVERS

Flyovers only require minimum space for its poles to give immediate result of eliminating congestion, allowing traffic to flow smoothly. Government funded flyovers ensures free usage by drivers.

Flyover construction is costly. In some cultures ,the construction of flyovers is a taboo. Flyovers funded by private investors attracts some form of toll.
