In What Ways Does Your Media Product Use, Develop or Challenge Forms and Conventions of Real Media Products?

The document discusses conventions used in music videos and how the student's music video project followed some of these conventions, including having the singer sing the first line to establish the artist, focusing primarily on performance by the artist, having costumes and dress reflect the mood of the song, having the genre reflected in the mise-en-scene or visual style, and using camera work like close-ups and low angles to impact meaning and representation of the artist. The document also asks questions about how effective the combination of the main product and ancillary texts was, what was learned from audience feedback, and what media technologies were used in the different stages of production.

Music Video Convenions

In order to make a successful music video I have to follow some of the music video conventions, which are present in a vast majority of videos out today. A few of the main ones I followed were; -singer sings the first line -mostly preformance -dress reflects the mood of the song -genre is reflected in the mise en scene etc. -camera work impacts meaning

Conventions
Singer sings the first line. Important to establish the artist Sells them to the audience more

Conventions
Mostly preformance Preformance by the artist Preformance from the acting in the narraive

Conventions
Dress reflects the mood of the song Spooky feel to the song, so clothing was kept dark The witches were the evil characters, so their colthing was deliberatly more ripped and messy

Conventions
Tempo drives the editings Montage clips at the beginning and end of the video a edited in time to the montage of voices

Conventions
Camera work impacts meaning and/or representation of the artist Close ups are commonly used on the singer, making him appear more dominant Low angle shots are also used on the singer, making him more empowered
