Teaching and Learning Using The Geometer's Sketchpad Lesson Plan Model: 1 Class, 1 Computer

This lesson plan teaches students about functions and graphing functions using Geometer's Sketchpad. Students will construct tables of values for given functions, draw graphs of functions using given scales, and reinforce the concepts through exercises in their textbook. The lesson involves induction, constructing tables of values, using Geometer's Sketchpad to draw graphs, and closure with steps to draw a graph. Assessment includes constructing tables and drawing graphs using given scales.

Teaching and Learning using the Geometers Sketchpad Lesson Plan Model: 1 Class, 1 Computer

Subject : Mathematics Form :3 Duration : 40 minutes Learning Area : Graph of Functions Learning Objectives : Students wiil be thaught to : 1. Understand and use the concept of functions. 2. Draw and use graphs of functions. Learning Outcomes : Students will be able to : 1. Construct tables of values for given functions. 2. Draw graphs of functions using given scales. Teacher Materials : 1. GSP file 2. Text book Form 3 Students Materials : 1. GSP file 2. Text book Form 3 Skills : 1. Constructing 2. Drawing Values : 1. Cooperative 2. Patience 3. Hardworking Lesson Sequence : ACTIVITIES 1. Opening Step 1 : Induction set Step 2 : Understand and use the concept of functions. REMARKS

ACTIVITIES 2. Lesson Development Step 1 : Construct tables of values for given functions. Step 2 : Use GSP to draw and use graphs of functions using given scales. 3. Closure Step 1 : There are steps to draw a graph. First, construct a table of values. Next, use the scale given to draw and label the x-axis and y-axis on a Cartesian plane. Then, use the ordered pairs to plot the points on the Cartesian plane. Lastly, join the points to form a straight line or a smooth curve. Step 2 : Reinforcement exercise from text book (Exercise 13.2B page 281)

REMARKS

Assessment : 1. Construct tables of values for given functions 2. Draw graphs of functions using given scales Guiding Questions : 1. Copy and complete the tables of values for given function 2. Use the scales provided to draw a graph of function Special Comments : (How has it worked?) 1. 2. 3. 4. Are the selected devices relevant to the topic of the lesson? Would the presentation of the lesson become more interesting? Could the objectives of the lesson be achieve? Would the interaction between teacher and students as well as among students more lively? 5. Could the activities prepared be implemented within the allocated time?
