Verifying the Download in Windows

1. To check the md5sum of your BackTrack ISO in Windows, you can use the free "hashcalc" tool from SlavaSoft HashCalc - Hash, CRC, and HMAC Calculator 2. Once downloaded, open hashcalc, uncheck all the checkboxes except md5 and change data format to "file". 3. In the data box on the right hand side is a button with 3 dots, click it and navigate to where you downloaded your .iso or .bz2 and select it, click open and then "calculate" .After a few seconds (or more depending on your computer speed) there will be a 32 bit string next to the word md5, this is the md5 of your file.

Compare your md5 to the md5 hash on the download page. If they are the same then your iso or bz2 is good, if not your file is corrupt and you need to download it again.
