    Allusions to Greek Mythology in Modern Society


    After studying some of the most important Greek gods and goddesses, heroes, and myths, your task is to use your knowledge base to make connections to Greek mythology in modern society. We often come across references to mythology in a variety of forms in our everyday life. For example

    Assignment #1: Poster Project 1. Design a poster displaying images of 10-15 allusions to Greek mythology in society today. These references could be found in names or logos of companies, advertisements, movie titles, song lyrics, modern art, etc. The poster must include a title and 10-15 numbered images. 2. Attached to the poster should be a typed answer key. In your answer key, identify each item on the poster and explain in 3-4 sentences the connection between the image and Greek mythology.

    OR Assignment #2: 5 Paragraph Essay Pick 3 companies whose name/logo alludes to Greek/Roman mythology. Research the companies to determine why each company chose its particular name (i.e. Nike for the goddess Nike) or the significance of the companys logo (i.e. Pegasus for Mobil) in connection to mythology. Write a five paragraph essay with an intro, 3 body paragraphs focusing on the 3 companies, and a conclusion. Your essay will be evaluated using a six traits writing rubric.
