EDFD 204 Syllabus

This course introduces both traditional and innovative technologies to facilitate learning in teaching science and mathematics. Students will demonstrate an understanding of various educational technologies, their nature, application and production. The course will focus on developing teacher support materials and technology-based instructional materials for effective teaching and learning. It covers the meaning and scope of instructional technology, the role of media in education, sources of materials, and selection criteria. It also addresses production of audio-visual, pictorial, visual, audio and 3D materials, as well as the overhead projector, computers, and educational media centers. Students will apply instructional technology through lesson planning and demonstration teaching.

Descriptive Title : Credit : Course Description : Technologies in Teaching Science and Mathematics 3 units This course is designed to introduced both traditional and innovative technologies to facilitate and foster meaningful and effective learning. Students are expected to demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature, application and production of various types of educational technologies. This course will focus both on developing teachersupport and technology-based instructional materials for effective teaching and learning.

Course Objectives : At the end of the course, the students will be able to 1. Gain understanding on the use and functions of both traditional and innovative technologies in teaching; 2. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature, application and production of various types of educational technologies; 3.
