There are 5 types of quadrilaterals described: parallelograms have two pairs of parallel sides but angles that are not necessarily 90 degrees; rectangles have four right angles and opposite equal sides; rhombuses have four equal sides but angles that are not right; kites have two pairs of adjacent equal sides; and squares have four equal sides and four 90 degree angles. Trapezoids have at least one pair of parallel sides.

TYPES OF QUADRILATERAL

PARALLELOGRAM
A parallelogram is a 4-sided shape, with two pairs of equal sides, such as a rectangle, but where the angles are not necessarily 90 degrees as they are in a rectangle. A parallelogram is a quadrilateral whose opposite sides are both parallel and equal in length.

RECTANGLE RHOMBUS
A rhombus or rhomb is a convex quadrilateral whose four sides all have the same length. The rhombus is often called a diamond; the plural of rhombus can be either rhombi or rhombuses. A rectangle is any quadrilateral with four right angles. Restricted to the convex variety. The word rectangle comes from the Latin rectangulus, which is a combination of rectus (right) and angulus (angle).

KITE
A kite is a quadrilateral whose four sides can be grouped into two pairs of equal-length sides that are adjacent to each other. Kites are also known as deltoids, but the word "deltoid" may also refer to a deltoid curve, an unrelated geometric object.

SQUARE
A square is a 2 dimensional plane figure shape that has 4 sides and corners. It has four sides of equal length and four 90 degree corners.

TRAPEZOID
A rectangle is any quadrilateral with four right angles. The word rectangle comes from the Latin rectangulus, which is a combination of rectus (right) and angulus (angle).
