TSP

Triple superphosphate (TSP) is a solid single-nutrient phosphate fertilizer produced from phosphate rock and phosphoric acid containing 45-48% available phosphate. It is an excellent source of phosphorus but its use has declined as other phosphate fertilizers have become more popular. TSP is manufactured through the reaction of phosphate rock with phosphoric acid. It has good physical properties for storage, handling, and application as fertilizer.

Triple Superphosphate:

Triple superphosphate (TSP) is used exclusively as a fertilizer material. TSP is a solid single-nutrient phosphate fertilizer material produced from phosphate rock and phosphoric acid. The market for TSP exhibited a downward trend for many years, as ammonium phosphate materials accounted for virtually all of the growth in phosphate fertilizer consumption. However, since 2002, world production and apparent consumption have recovered to about the level recorded in 1993. Triple superphosphate (TSP) was one of the first high analysis P fertilizers that became widely used in the 20th century. Technically, it is known as calcium dihydrogen phosphate and as monocalcium phosphate, [Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O]. It is an excellent P source, but its use has declined as other P fertilizers have become more popular.

Manufacturing of TSP:Triple Super phosphate is a high analysis product of the reaction between phosphate rock and phosphoric acid, containing 45 - 48% available phosphate. CaF2. 3Ca3 (PO4)2 + 14H3PO4 10Ca (H2PO4)2 + 2HF (Phosphate Rock) (Triple Superphosphate)

Chemical Properties
Chemical formula: Ca(H2PO4)2H2O Fertilizer analysis: 45% P2O5 (0-45-0) 15% Ca Water-soluble P: Generally >90% Solution pH 1 to 3

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Sizing 95% in the 2 4 mm range Bulk density 1.10 1.20 t/m3 Angle of response 31-33

HANDLING:
TSP has excellent physical qualities. It stores, handles and flows through all types of equipment extremely well Does not take up moisture in storage or in the field Spread very evenly TSP flows significantly quicker than other fertilisers, approximately 15 to 20% faster than DAP so care must be taken in calibration, before sowing. Do not mix with urea as the fertilisers will react together and become wet.

USES:
As a low cost source of Phosphorus, TSP is the main substitute for single superphosphate in cropping blends. It is used mainly in blends with DAP and MOP Source of phosphorus in situations where no nitrogen is required e.g. Good fallow after clover dominant pasture. In horticultural blends where the phosphorus content needs boosting.
