The Field Situation
- Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said anti-Al-Assad demonstrations erupted in Damscus, Aleppo, Deir Al-Zour and Al-Qamishli, adding number of protesters varies from area to another according to security presence and military operations. (4) - Student and evening protests took place in the Damascus neighborhoods of Darya, Al-Zabadan, Kafr Batna, Yabrud, Ain Menin, Al-Tal, Artouz, Zamalka, Mezzeah, Barzeh. Some 32 demonstrations also took place in various districts of Aleppo. Protesters chanted in solidarity for the warravaged cities and demanded the Syrian regime be toppled.

The Internal Situation


- The total number of Syrian refugees seeking haven in Turkey reached 24,000.(1)(8) - According to Syrian activists and a Turkish official, the Syrian forces are pressing a military offensive and laying mines near the border with Turkey in an attempt to block a flow of refugees and supplies for elements defecting from Al-Assad's forces.(1)(7)(11)

Political Stances Syria


- Syria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari stated Friday that his country wanted a written commitment from the opposition in which it assures that it would not take advantage of the regime forces withdrawal from some regions.(4)

The Military Situation


- Al-Assad's forces launched a large-scale operation in Aleppo's countryside, which resulted in seven martyrs, including a woman. Clashes between government forces and dissidents in the Aleppo towns of Andan, Haritan claimed the lives of four soldiers loyal to Al-Assad.(4) - Colonel Riad Al-Asaad, commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), said representatives for the UN-Arab envoy Kofi Annan met with the FSA leaders to discuss Annan's plan, which provides for withdrawal of Al-Assad's forces by April 10th and a ceasefire on April 12th, saying that the FSA is willing to abide by the plan in case Al-Assad's regime complied with it.(1)(2)(4)(5)(9) - The Guardian quoted a Syrian activist as saying that, "Gulf agreement to fund the Syrian National Council to pay FSA salaries is seen as providing cover for arms purchases. The FSA people are in Istanbul right now waiting for deliveries. Cash has already been distributed via Burhan Ghalioun, the Syrian National Council (SNC) chairman, to fighters in Daraa and Damascus."(4)(14)

Arab
- In a conference during which "The International Campaign in Support of the Syrian People" was launched, Sheikh Nasser Al-Omar, secretary general of the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS), said, "What is going on in Syria is a war between the Muslims and the infidels. The Syrian people is currently facing a Safavid project."(1)

International
- The United States released satellite images on Friday that it said showed Syria has artillery poised to hit residential areas and has moved some forces from one town to another despite calls for a withdrawal.(9) - Ahmed Khatami, member of the Iranian Assembly of Experts, said what is going on in Syria proves that Syria is currently paying the price for its all-out resistance against the Zionist regime.(9) - After a meeting for foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said UN monitors with military experience will monitor the implementation of the truce in Syria.(16) - Elena Ponomareva, a professor at Moscow State University for International Relations, believes that Al-Assad's regime and its supporters won the first round of the political confrontation, adding that avoiding the application of the Yugoslav, Libyan or Iraqi scenarios in Syria is a major victory.(16)

Political Mobility
- In a statement issued on April 6th, 2012, the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria says, "The legitimate Syrian State will not recognize any treaty, agreement or deal concluded or might be concluded by Al-Assad's dynasty or its agents as of March 15th, 2011," adding, "It is logical that after recognizing the Syrian National Council (SNC) as legitimate representative for the Syrian people, the international community should withdraw its recognition of Al-Assad dynasty."(1)(5)(8) - Jalal Kahil, coordinator of "The International Campaign in Support of the Syrian People" said the aim of this campaign is to launch a number of programs backing the Syrian
