First Grade News

April 2-6, 2012


What were learning
Our Bible stories for this week are David and Jonathan and David Shows Kindness to Saul. We will be reading Baby Otter Grows Up and Foal in our basal reading books. We are focusing on the oa and ee sounds. Math will include comparison symbols, dividing sets, and measuring. We will focus on the letters r in handwriting. For P.E. we will start our track unit.

Assignments
Here are some ways to challenge your child: Math Use number words and comparison symbols to compare numbers. Writing Design an Easter card for your family members. Reading Read the story of Jesus' resurrection in the Bible. Monday, April 2: Read Christ Light David and Jonathan Read Baby Otter Grows Up Tuesday, April 3: Memory Work: Galatians 5:13 Read Foal Wednesday, April 4: Read Christ Light David Shows Kindness to Saul Spelling Test (meet, jeep, see, sheep, street, three, tree, weep Bonus: sleep, green) Thursday, April 5: None (Maundy Thursday, services at 5:00 and 7:00)

Note: We will have our spelling test on Thursday, due to Maundy Thursday services. There will be homework on Wednesday, but not Thursday this week.

Important Notes

Report Cards will go home today. Thank you for your understanding. I have not been that sick in a long time! I am glad to be on the road to recovery! I pray you are all able to stay healthy or will feel better soon. This Friday, April 6th, will be our Good Friday service at school. The students of the school will sing their Lenten songs in between readings. Wed love to have you join us for the service and Easter as well!
