NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE DRILL IN PUBLIC SCHOOL
Earthquake is one of the natural calamities that occur at the time we least expect. It strikes everywhere. With this people should be ready and aware of what they are going to do in case it happens. Thats why our school is always conducting a drill to prepare them. Again the School Disaster Control Group reviews the instruction for earthquake drill. DUCK, COVER and HOLD were taught to the pupils when shaking occurs. Afterwards everybody was instructed to be alert while walking outside the classroom. The drill started with a 1-minute strong shaking. We simulated some scenario that might happen during an earthquake inside the classroom such as person cannot stand: building had been damaged but do not collapse: falling objects: cases of injuries, fear and pains. During the situation, no immediate assistance must be available. Again the Phases of an Earthquake Drill were given an emphasis such as alarm, response, assembly, head count and evaluation all throughout the activity. With this pupils and teachers are trained to be knowledgeable about earthquake preparedness.
