Abstract

Sixth Sense is a wearable technology developed by Pranav Mistry that allows users to interact with digital information using hand gestures by augmenting the physical world. It consists of a pocket projector, mirror, and camera coupled together in a pendant-like mobile device. By providing access to digital data and online information about the physical world, Sixth Sense aims to create a "sixth sense" and bridge the gap between the digital and physical. Some potential benefits include making phone calls by typing on an invisible keypad projected onto a friend's palm, seeing videos related to newspaper headlines by pointing at them, and capturing images by framing scenes with fingers.

ABSTRACT

SIXTH SENSE TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION :

Sixth Sense is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural
hand gestures to interact with that information.

It was developed by Pranav Mistry, a PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group at the MIT Media Lab. SixthSense bridges the gap by bringing intangible, digital information out into the tangible world, and allowing us to interact with this information via natural hand. SixthSense comprises a pocket projector, a mirror and a camera. The hardware components are coupled in a pendant like mobile wearable device

Needs of SIXTH SNSE TECHNOLOGY:

When we encounter something, someone or some place, we use our five natural senses to perceive information about it. That information helps us make decisions and chose the right actions to take. But arguably the most useful information that can help us make the right decision is not naturally perceivable with our five senses, namely the data, information and knowledge that mankind has accumulated. About everything and which is increasingly all availableonline. Although the miniaturization of computing devicesallows us to carry computers in our pockets, keeping uscontinually Conected to the digital world, there is no linkbetween our digital device and our interactions with thephysical world.

WHY THE NamE SIXTH SENSE:

From thousands of years mankind used the five senses togain information. But now as this device is completelyportable and it can provide information about anything.

It isnamed as SIXTH SENSE DEVICE.

BENEfITS Of SIXTH SNSE TECHNOLOGY:

You can call to your friend by typing the numbers on yourhand. It displays the keypad of the phone over your palmand the keys appear on the four fingers &use anotherhand's finger to press the keys. We can see moving pictures on a Newspaper. It Searchesthe most appropriate video from the web by seeing theheadlines or the caption of the News report. Using this technology we can capture images without acamera, when we make a square with fingers, highlightingwhich one we want to frame.
