A pre-production meeting is very important in order to establish the Agent / Vendor QA and Factory QA working relationship. This is an opportunity for the Agent / Vendor to confirm that the factory has correct and up-to-date information. Upon completion of the PTL, Factory QA conducts a statistical FRI using an AQL of 2.5. This final random inspection will include both a workmanship and measurement audit.

Color Standards 3. Trim & Accessories 4. Label, Hangtag Placement & Packaging 5. Review of Technical Specification 6. Construction Review, including correct machinery needed 7. Pre-Production Test Lot (PTL)
A PTL is recommended for all apparel and home textile programs, as part of the normal production procedure. A pre-production test lot of 10-12 dozen is scheduled. The test lot should contain all sizes ordered and use approved: Fabric color, quality, weight, pattern/layout, finishing, handfeel Trims color, quality, handfeel Construction Garment Wash, as applicable Labels, Hangtags, Packaging Upon completion of the PTL, Factory QA conducts a statistical FRI using an AQL of 2.5. This final random inspection will include both a workmanship and measurement audit. Factory QA personnel performing this inspection, must have the authority to revise or correct any production method causing a quality issue. The Vendor/Agent QA should also conduct and verify production quality by performing their own statistical FRI using an AQL of 2.5. Test Lot Passes Production can proceed. Test Lot Fails Production should not proceed. Any significant measurement or workmanship discrepancy identified, should be sorted and corrected. Main labels should be cut on all defective units, to prevent them from being shipped by mistake. The source of the quality issue should be identified and corrected before production can proceed. Depending upon the quantity and severity of defects identified, a 2nd PTL may be required. Vendor/Agent QA should again verify production quality, by again performing their own statistical audit.
