102,102 6 March 2012 A Film Unfinished Response A Film Unfinished was about the Ghetto the Jews were forced to live in before the Holocaust. The film was intended to be shown to Germans because many people were wondering what had happened to all of the Jews. It was not very accurate however. Most of everything that was shot for the film was staged to make the Jews look very proper and almost conceited. The Jews were filmed so it looked like they were living in luxury. They were told to ignore people who were starving or dead in the streets so that it looked like they only cared about themselves. In reality however, they were not living extravagant lives. In fact most of them were very poor and starving. The living conditions were horrible. Many people were crammed into the same area to live and garbage piled up in the streets because there was nowhere else to put it. The Germans made the video look like the Jews were happy, but it was a very poor depiction of reality. The Ghetto the Jews had to live in was a very depressing place. They were trapped in the Ghetto and could not leave its walls. Not only was the video about the Jews living in the Ghetto, but it also had commentary with some of the Holocaust survivors. Those who watched the film said they expected to see a family member on the screen. However, the Ghetto was so large it was highly unlikely that would actually happen. One survivor recognized a lady who walked the streets with her infant, always begging for food. As the film showed different aspects of the Ghetto, the survivors would

Exter 2 talk about their experiences at a particular place or event that was happening. They would talk about the camera crew showing up and having to do what they said. It was mentioned that it was never good whenever the Germans showed up. Some of the parts of the film were too horrific for the survivors to even watch. All of the survivors had to shield their eyes when the film showed the mass grave. A Film Unfinished is a tragic video about things that had happened in the past. In the Ghetto the Jews were greatly mistreated. Even though this video had some horrific events, it was only the beginning of what was about to take place for the Jews. Word Count 402
