Making a song clip

Using google.com search and MS PowerPoint

be inspiring

A light activity mixing learning and amusement at the same time would be to bring your students to a computer room equipped with ADSL connection and your only task is to monitor their work. Objective: The project would be to turn a song into a film/clip. Procedure: Step 1: divide students into groups Step 2: assign each group a search using Google.com Group1: search for a song (say El condor Passa by Simon and Garfunkel) Group2: search for the lyrics of (El condor Passa) Group3: search for keywords in the lyrics Group4: search for pictures representing the key words in the lyrics =>This may take some time of course; depending the bandwidth/speed of your connection. Step 3: copy the search results unto each groups computer so that the groups make difference when organizing the pictures and their speed while the song plays (or allow for different content). Step 4: using PowerPoint, each group copies and pastes the pictures on the different slides of their presentations and with your help, import the song in any sound format (mp3, wave, midi etc., but preferably in wav format) unto the beginning of the slides. Step 5: save the document with a .pps extension (so that it opens directly into slides) Whats remarkable about this kind of activities is that it combines both the learning of ICT skills and the learning of songs and by far test their creativity. I do urge everyone who tries this activity to report any of the difficulties or other ways to improve such game-like activities. Thanks in advance and hope you get benefit.
