Windows XP uses a slightly modified version of the graphical user interface. The screen resolution is 600 x 800, the desktop background is black, and the text, Safe Mode, is displayed in all four corners of your screen. After Windows XP loads in safe mode, you can disable the problem device, scan for viruses, run diagnostic software, or take other appropriate action.

When you boot in Safe Mode, Windows XP uses a slightly modified version of the graphical user interface(GUI), in which the screen resolution is 600 x 800, the desktop background is black, and the text, Safe Mode, is displayed in all four corners of your screen. After Windows XP loads in Safe Mode, you can disable the problem device, scan for viruses, run diagnostic software, or take other appropriate action to diagnose and solve problems. When you load Windows XP in Safe Mode, all files used for the load are recorded.
