GATT-WTO

1. In early February 1946, they began to charter the draft for the ITO, this isn’t
until 1948 when negotiations were done.
2. The GATT was established on January 1, 1948 the agreement was signed by
23 countries. The World Trade Organization (WTO), established on January 1,
1995
3. The Uruguay round was a conference held to debate topics hoping to expand
the competence of the GATT to important new areas such as services, capital,
intellectual property, textiles, and agriculture. The Uruguay round led to the
creation of WTO.
4. The current director is Pascal Lamy.
5. China is a member of the WTO as of 2001.
6. Hong Kong is also a member of the WTO as of 1995.
