The Rudas Bath is one of the Baths in Budapest that was built during the time of Ottoman rule. It was built in 1550 and later reconstructed by Pasha Sokoli Mustafa in 1566. Even today, the Turkish influence can be seen by its centerpiece for example, a dome which spans 10 m, held up by 8 pillars and the octagonal pool below. The thermal bath has been visited from 1936 on exclusively by men but nowadays there is a day for women and one day for a mixed group. After a massive renovation involving mainly the interior, it was reopened in the beginning of 2006. For the Arnold Schwarzenegger fans, the bath can be seen in the 1988 movie Red Heat. The Cinetrip parties which once started at Rudas Bath, can be experienced during the winter season. The Rudas bath with its thermal and medicinal baths can be found at Dbrentei tr 9 on the Buda side of Erszbet Bridge. Bath pools There are six therapy pools and one swimming pool. The swimming pool and its sauna operate as a therapeutic facility. The octagonal pool is surrounded by four smaller pools, each with water of different temperature. The temperature range in the pools varies between 16-42 C. The components of the slightly radioactive thermal water include sulphate, calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate and a significant amount of fluoride ion. Bath Services Medical indications of the water is degenerative joint illnesses, chronic and sub-acute joint inflammations, vertebral disk problems, neuralgia and lack of calcium in the bone system. In its drinking hall, the water of the springs Hungria, Attila and Juventus can be consumed for the purposes of a drinking cure. In the bath, there is a daytime outpatient hospital operating with a complex physiotherapy department. Other services are massages of various forms and steam bath to mention a few.
