Questions

The document outlines the experiments to be performed in an Engineering Practices Laboratory for an Electrical Engineering degree course. It lists 15 experiments involving wiring circuits with lamps, switches and meters to measure concepts like voltage, current, power, power factor, and energy consumption in RLC circuits and residential/industrial settings. Key goals are to verify operation of fluorescent lamps, measure earth resistance, understand energy measurement using meters, and control loads using two-way switches in staircase and house wiring configurations.

DEGREE EXAMINATIONS, JAN 2012

Regulations 2008 First Semester GE2116 ENGINEERING PRACTICES LABORATORY Group B (Electrical Engineering)

1) Make an industrial illumination circuit wiring using switches, fuse, indicator, lamp and energy meter. 2)a) Verify whether the starter required or not for a fluorescent lamp after the ignition. b) Why is earthing needed? Draw the internal diagram of a equipment which is used to measure the earth resistance. 3) With the help of two way switch, Control the given lamp load. 4) Conduct a suitable experiment to measure the energy by using single phase watt hour meter. 5) By conducting a suitable test, measure the voltage, current, power and power factor in RLC series circuit. 6) Make a residential house wiring using switches, fuse, indicator, lamp and energy meter. 7) a) Draw the fluorescent lamp circuit and test it. b) What is megger? Draw the internal diagram of a equipment which is used to measure the earth resistance. 8) Make a staircase wiring by using two way controlled switch. 9) Measure the energy drawn by the given single phase load by using suitable measuring equipment.

10) By conducting suitable test, measure the voltage, current, power and power factor in RLC series circuit. 11) a) Conduct an experiment using a starter to show the lamp will continue to glow even when starter is removed. b) What is megger? Draw the internal diagram of a equipment which is used to measure the earth resistance. 12) Construct a circuit diagram with lamp load and meter and conduct a suitable experiment to measure the energy consumed by the given lamp for a period of 15 minutes. 13) Construct a wiring in such a way so that a single lamp can be controlled from two different places. 14) Measure voltage, current, power and power factor in series RLC circuit by conducting suitable experiment. 15) By switching on the resistance in resistive load sequentially after every two minutes, measures the energy consumed by the resistance and tabulate the energy consumption for two minutes.
