ANs YS

This document discusses using ANSYS software to analyze different types of plates. It provides an overview of ANSYS capabilities, the working procedure involving pre-processing, solution, and post-processing steps, and examples of structural members already analyzed using ANSYS including a cantilever beam, simply supported beam, and plate with a center hole subjected to in-plane loading. The document also outlines plans to analyze isotropic, orthotropic and anisotropic rectangular plates with various boundary conditions and perform modal analysis of wind turbine blades made of composite laminated plates.

ANALYSIS OF PLATES

BY USING ANSYS SOFTWARE

DIFFERENT TYPE OF PLATES TO BE ANALYSED

1) Rectangular/Square plates with all edges simply supported. 2) Rectangular/Square plates with one pair of edges simply supported and the other pair fixed. 3) Rectangular/Square plates with one pair of edges simply supported, one edge fixed and one end free. 4) Rectangular/Square plates with all ends fixed. 5) Composite laminated plates

WHAT IS ANSYS?
ANSYS is a finite element analysis software package. It uses a pre-processor software engine to create geometry. Then it uses a solution routine to apply loads to the meshed geometry. Finally it outputs desired results in post-processing It is used in various fields of engineering for the analysis of various materials.

WORKING PROCEDURE IN ANSYS

It has 3 simple steps for analysis of any structural member. 1) Pre-processing 2) Solution 3) Post-processing

PREPROCESSING

STRUCTURAL MEMBERS ANALYSED IN ORDER TO WORK WITH ANSYS

1) Cantilever beam with a point load at its free end has been analyzed. 2) Simply supported beam with uniformly distributed load has been analyzed. 3) Simply supported beam with an overhang on both sides and different loading conditions at different points has been analyzed. 4) An isotropic rectangular plate with a hole at the center subjected to inplane loading has been analyzed.

SIMPLY SUPPORTED BEAM WITH UDL ON IT

WORK PROGRESS : Till now we have analyzed various members to get familiar with ANSYS.

We plan to analyze isotropic, orthotropic and anisotropic rectangular plates with different boundary conditions in the future. We plan to do modal analysis of wind turbine blades made of composite laminated plates with ANSYS.
