Antacids
Antacids
Which Antacids are Better Heartburn is a painful burning sensation in the chest caused by acid reflux. Antacids are used to take care of heartburns by increasing the pH level in the stomach. Marquis and Ms. Bronk tested if the generic antacid work as well as Tums. Miss Bronk and Marquis hypothesized that if the generic brand work as well as Tums than the pH change will be the same. The materials that the partners used are one beaker, pH paper, mortar and pestle, one molar HCI, graduated cylinder, Tums, and generic brand. Marquis and Ms. Bronk followed procedures one through five given to them by Mr. Joyal. First Miss Bronk measured ten mL of HCI into the beaker and Marquis took the original pH. Miss Bronk and Marquis placed this information in the data table. After that Marquis took one whole Tums and two quarter Tums (this is 1500 mg) and using a mortar and pestle Marquis grinned up the Tums. The hypothesis was accepted. Both of the antacids total changes in pH change are the same. When Miss Bronk and Marquis found both of the pH levels to be the same, Miss Bronk instantly notice that generic antacid and Tums work as well. There are some errors that affected the results. The cutting was uneven and some of the powdered antacids spilled on the table.
