Chapter 5

The document summarizes the results, conclusions, and future scope of a project to control temperature, level, and flow parameters in a steam generation system using a programmable logic controller (PLC). The system successfully generated steam to power ironing for 10 people simultaneously in a garment factory. It overcame pump performance issues by controlling pump operation based on water temperature. With a larger boiler, more people could iron at once, making the system suitable for large-scale fabric industries. The PLC-controlled system could also regulate chemicals in other industrial processes.

CHAPTER 5 RESULT, CONCLUSION AND FUTURE SCOPE The three main industrial parameters namely temperature, level and

flow is to be controlled in this project. After the construction of the entire hardware and software and by interfacing them together the control action is achieved and steam is generated successfully. The steam generation system in an electric boiler that is designed has been implemented using Programmable Logic Controller. At present, in garment factories embedded systems are used for steam ironing, whereas it can also be implemented using PLC, which is more efficient and easier to program. It is made sure that unlike other methods this is completely hazard free and it is also ensured that the steam generated is moisture free. The system that has been designed can be used by 10 persons for ironing at a time. It has overcome the problem of continuous ON-OFF of the pump which would affect its performance by keeping the temperature of the water as one of the parameter which controls the ON-OFF of the pump. By increasing the capacity of the boiler more number of people can be indulged in the ironing process and this project can be used in large scale fabric industries. Also this can be used in chemical industries for the control of the three main industrial parameters namely temperature, level and flow by using the respective chemicals instead of water as the processing fluid.
