Density Based Trafic Light Control System

A density-based traffic light control system uses IR sensors to measure vehicle density within a fixed distance on all sides of an intersection. The microcontroller receives sensor input and prioritizes green lights for the side with highest density to efficiently clear traffic without delays. Even if one side has no traffic, it avoids unnecessary waits by following the priority order based on continuously-sensed vehicle density from all directions.

Density Based Traffic Light Control System

Abstract:
In this system IR sensors are used to measure the density of the vehicles which are fixed with in a fixed distance. All the sensors are interfaced with the microcontroller which in turn controls the traffic signal system according to density by the sensor. If the traffic density is high in particular side more priority is given for that side. The sensor continuously keeps sensing density on all sides and the green signal is given to the side in priority basis, where the sensor detects high density. The side with next priority level follows the first priority level. By using this system traffic can cleared without irregularities and time delays even though there is no traffic on the other side can be avoided.
