REPORT ON YES O ACTIVITIES

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES O) was established to increase global concerns for environmental action against threats to Mother Earth and to consolidate all in safeguarding, protecting, and conserving the environment. To achieve this goal, our school have also take part in implementing the activities of YES O. One of the activities conducted was the fumigation or fogging which was done last August, 2011. It was done with the collaboration from the barangay to prevent the spread of dengue and to drive away mosquitoes and other insects which can cause diseases.

Another activity held last October 28, 2011, was the school-based seminar on DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RISK REDUCTION MANAGEMENT which was spearheaded by Councilor Felix Santos. He talked on how we can maintain our school clean and he also suggested some ways to address some of the problems on waste in our school to reduce the risk especially during disasters or calamities.

In connection with the Science Fair, we had also conducted the G. and Bb. Kalikasan in our school which was participated by the Grades IV to VI students. It was conducted last September 15, 2011. Here, the participants were required to dress in their recycled attire to show how innovative they are and to let the audience realize that discarded materials can still be of good use.

The Canteen Manager, Mrs. Averny Tumambing had also take part in implementing the no to plastic campaign to reduce wastes from plastic materials. In this way, we can help our ozone layer from being depleted. Lastly, the YES-O officers and members conducted a tree planting activity with the help of their EPP teacher, Mr. Ernesto Santos which was conducted last ______________________. Planting is an act of putting down roots and contributing to the future. The simple act of planting a tree helps the environment in so many ways like : it filters pollution from the air, prevent soil loss, make food for humans and animals, provide an interesting, soothing, learning environment for children and much more! Without trees, there would be no life on this planet.
